[Mark: Dodge 9, +1 Combat Reflexes = 10: 3+2+4 = 9 (by 1)]

Dodging from the cultists strike Mark-315 counters with a melee strike of his own.

[Mark: Brawling Skill 14: 5 + 2 + 1 = 8 (6)]
[Damage: Punching 1d+1 (Brawling at DX+2): 6 + 1 = 7]

7 Damage to Vitals with pi+ = 7x3= 21 damage. Cultist #13 is declared dead.

Neither Douglas or Serena [OOC: Mark lacks Peripheral or 360° Vision and would rely on Serena's warning] manages to spot the two figures coming around the corner of the fourth corridor. They step around, crouch, and fire with the weapons that they are carrying:

Matt: Paintball Gun 12, -4 range (8 yards), -2 lighting (Mark and Douglas are illuminated by the flare), +1 (RoF 6) = 7: 6+5+2 = 13 (failed by 6)
Simon: Paintball Gun 12, -4 range (8 yards), -2 lighting (Mark and Douglas are illuminated by the flare), +1 (RoF 6) = 7: 4+1+1 = 6 (by 1)

Both Matt and Simon (easily identified once someone looks at them) open fire with paintball guns at Mark and Douglas. They miss Douglas, though one shot manages to catch Mark.

No defense roll for unexpected attack.
Damage: 1d-4 cr (double knockback) = 4-4 = 0
Mark has been tagged by a paintball: those targeting him get +1 on any penalty for darkness.


Two more cultists run around the corner that Matt and Simon are firing from, charging down the corridor as fast as they can. One carries what looks like a knife, whilst the other has what looks suspiciously like a crowbar.

Please specify: the two cultists are four yards away with a Move of five. Is Douglas waiting for the range penalty to drop to -0, or for the next turn after he's been attacked?

Mark-315 will wait for the cultists to get closer again as well (thus reducing the range penalty), then attack.

Mark-315 eyes the paintball splodge on his armour critically. “Guess you have a point there, since bullets would technically have a better chance of stopping us than paintballs.”

Mark-315 returns his attention back to the two charging cultists, holding his fire until he’s absolutely sure of a clean shot.

Douglas will be waiting until they are close enough to attack with no range penalty.

Pistol (17, +3 Acc, +1 Weapon Bond, -4 DWA, -3 Vitals), 14 (3d6=16)

Right hand: Four shots remaining.

And the first one is a miss. :(

Pistol (17, +3 Acc, -4 DWA), 16 (3d6=10)

Left hand: five shots remaining.

Mark-315 waits until the cultists are almost on top of him, virtually at point blank range, before opening fire.

[Mark-315: Pistol Skill 14, -0 range penalty, -0 lighting (darkvision), -2 leg = 12: 6 + 5 + 1 = 12 (Barely)]
[Damage 2d+2 pi = (6+6) + 2 = 14]

Since Douglas and Mark are waiting, Simon and Matt fire again first:

Paintballs go all over the place, but fail to actually hit anything.

[Cultist #16: dodge 8: 6+3+2 = 11 (failed by 3)]

Douglas' first shot misses, but his second strikes home. [Damage is 3 x 1.5 (pi+) = 4.5, rounded to 5 HP lost; this will not be counted as a Major Wound due to the rounding]

Niether of the cultists manages to actually connect their their hasty attacks.

Quick question: where did Tom and the other two cultists who are tied up get left? You've got a choice of the corridors or the room where the ritual is happening, unless you want them further away, in which case they're liable to be rescued unexpectedly.

I'm thinking they were left right next to that door. Douglas wouldn't want to leave them out of his sight.
