(IC) Lost In Dreams [Peter]

"Hey! Yeah, I'm an American. I didn't come by portal... "

Peter is concerned he'll be herded in with the abducted people in his vision, so he tries to come up with an alternative story to 'escaped property'.

"Never used one of those before, what's that like? I've gone by conveyor tho, but I seem to have missed my ride. Ever hear of the Miracle Workers? Think I can catch a ride back to Homeline?"

"I haven't heard of that." the soldier says. "I will take you to someone who might have. Come with us. You are now our prisoner. climb on my horse."


He seems to be disregarding the dog. He says something to the man, and reaches down to hand him a few coins.

'This is what happens when I don't run' Peter thinks to himself.

"How about 'traveling companion'? I'll go with you to kill some time and find out what's going on, but I am no one's prisoner. When my friends return, you don't want to be on my bad side, trust me buddy" Peter bluffs... then realizes that may have been a mistake, paining himself as having information about a possible threat may work to his detriment.

"We don't care about your dog, and neither does he."


Goliath has already darted off into the bushes. Peter thinks he can see the animal watching what's going on.


"We're already at war. If you don't know that, its because your army isn't telling you what's going on. By the time they come for you, I'll be just another soldier."


"Move along prisoner, before I have to reinforce that fact."

Peter looks around quickly and does the math...

Does he see any possibility of a route to escape? If he thinks he has a shot, he'll take it.

If not he'll comply.

"Neither does who? Hey, if your guys think they can ransom me or something, we can work something out for my dog too... He's important to me."

"Your dog doesn't care. He's already run away. I'm not going to spend my time chasing after a disloyal mutt of a prisoner. If you're ransomed? you can buy a new dog."


GM aside: Goliath will follow you, wait, and look out for himself. He's a purchased ally.

Looking defeated, Peter complies and climbs on the horse...

He points to the ladle and then Goliath and says "Can you give him some water? Please care for him if he hangs around." Hoping they understand English a little better than speaking it.


OOC: I realize Peter will see him again, but Peter knows these mechanical horses are faster than real ones and he has no way of knowing if Goliath will keep up or that he'll see him again.

The Man watches as Peter climbs on the horse, and sees him point to the well and then the dog. He looks on passively as two soldiers take Peter down the road the way they came.



It appears that its morning: the sky gets steadily lighter as they ride through the farmland. The farther they go, the more he sees thin and dirty workers plowing burned fields among burned houses. They cross a few weird places where the weeds and dirt color change what they look like very abruptly. They go over a hill, and Peter can see a grand city of smoke stacks and tall buildings, much like his dream. A smoggy haze rests over it.



He thinks once or twice that he sees a brown animal following them, but he's not sure.


As they crest that hill, he sees more soldiers, who escort him and the other soldiers to a nearby building. Inside the building, they see a priest dressed in the Blue and Copper Robes, who comes to Peter. He seems to speak english:


"Boy, I am a priest of the grand, clever, mighty, and wise Ink-Thur, known far and wide as the God of the Forge, and the God of Thuroma. I have spoken with him. Do not lie to me, or I will know it, and you will face the Wrath of Ink-Thur. What is your name, and how did you come here?"


"I shall call upon Ink-Thur to give you the power to speak our language. I do this, so that those who lack the gifts of the generous Ink-Thur may converse with you."


He has not used any magic yet. Not that Peter can tell. Not beyond the pervasive magic that sits stagnant all around.

While they travel, Peter will ask the soldiers what's up with the fires.
He will also try and "feel" this ambient magic... see if he can soak it up, or nudge it around with his concentration.


Before answering, does Peter sense any deception from the priest?

Up until now, has anyone said anyone's name (besides their gods)?

"Those were some uppity bumpkins who were charging too much for their grain. So we burned their fields and houses. The others learned their lesson. If you're smart you'll learn that lesson too."

Its still too far away. Or perhaps too thin and spread out. He thinks once he's observes someone else using it he'll be able to figure out what its for.

He doesn't have any skills* in that department... but he does have a suspicion the priest is claiming more than he has access to.

The priest hasn't. The soldiers haven't dropped their names in english either, though one of them might be name "Yorkalic".
