This depends on what you mean by "part of the United States". Classic: Old West goes all the way back to 1800 and the Louisiana Purchase was made in 1803 and the US claimed the area south of that (which would become Texas) as theirs from 1803 to 1819. So the US either owned or claimed to own everything up to the Rocky Mountains.

As mentioned above you can go much further back then the 1860s as the Oregon and California Trails were in the 1840s. It just that the period from 1860 to the closing of the West in 1890 had the most memorable events.

The mention was about Wild West, not Old West. When a game is set to be in the Wild West, people tend to think more "Shootout at the OK Corral" than "You have died of dysentery."

But we're getting rather far afield of the original topic, repricing Striking ST.

True though while the argument that it should be cheaper at higher TLs does make sense in terms of usefulness there is the rest of it becoming such a point bonanza that you have Hulk like characters running around who punch through solid walls.
