Ah...the GURPS board comes through again. As it happens, I'm in the process of building a series of adventures featuring just this sort of thing.

Perhaps not real life reality, but at least real life mythology (and in a game, what's the difference?)

The Catalogue of UK Entrances to Hell

Again, not real life reality so much as real life mythology.

And finally: RPG.net has a thread entitled [Occult Modern Settings] The Wikipedia Supplement which should provide hours of reading pleasure. I believe that's where I initially found the Operation Gladio link.

Careful. That rabbit hole leads to the Kennedys, the CFR/Bilderbergers/Trilateral comission, Skull and Bones, 9/11 Truth, the other George Bush, the P2OG working group, the strategy of tension...

All of which is either real-life wierdness or conspiracy theory, depending on who you ask...

Which also leads to Cecil Rhodes (the Rhodes Scholarship and Bill Clinton), the de Beers, and worldwide British imperial domination. Also the Boer War, Baden-Powell, and the Boy Scouts.

But yeah, the Kennedys are a later stop on that train.

and I'd note that the Council on Foreign Relations was founded out of Cecil Rhodes's international working groups. This rabbit hole leads many places.

The island where severed/broken off left feet wash ashore?
Very disturbing as it appears to be due to quirks of currents and not some appendage dumping killer.

Please don't get turned off by the address, but I find the way this man of the cloth fell from grace is, well unusual, if not quite weird. But you could introduce a priest or similar as a NPC at one stage, and at a later date if the WM asks about him, you could trot out the reason for his demise.
