These pictures look real good to me. Thank you for the previews!

For at least one of the pieces of Dungeon Fantasy Monsters art, I wanted to pick a monster that was a bit more "classic." Any guesses as to which mythological creature this guy is? (No prizes, outside of the warm fuzzies that come from proving how clever you are . . .)

Wow, so far, this looks like the best artwork I've seen compared to all my other GURPS 4e books/PDFs.

What I discovered later is that he had also undertaken to illustrate all the unrendered creatures. By the time of MM II, TSR were past all the easy pickings like dragons and centaurs and past all the loopy Fiend Folio offerings like floops or whatever those floating things were called. Now we were into Giant Weasel territory. I suppose the editors at TSR had decided that gamers did not really need to be shown what an owl looked like, or a badger, but there they were, illustrated laboriously (which is not the same as well). Each quadruped was rendered as a brownish tube, with four brownish tubes projecting downwards at a perpendicular angle and a tiny sphere at one end of the main tube with rudimentary facial features. Each winged animal was shown with wings widely spread, as if posing for a coat of arms. It is awesome. |

Hmm...I wonder if he's available to do some art for the next monster book? "Tube Weasel" would make a great monster. Or a great band name.

Ya know, if I should ever meet you at a con (or anywhere really), I'll bring along my copy of DF Monsters 1 along with some crayons . . . Hell, I'll even ask Kromm if he'll lend a his crayon wielding mit to an illustration! Those would be so much cooler than a regular old autograph.
