thats good art done the old way i miss.
the creatures are not overly done and leaving it in black and white leaves room for the d.m/g.m to add in their own details. reminds me of the old ad&d illustrations which just got the point across which was all that was needed and the d.m verbalized the rest... liked what i saw...

Wow! I'm ridiculously excited for Monsters now. I like game art that suggests a lot of flavor without trying to show you every detail. Nice work, SJG.

I'd give it a good, solid 7 out of 10. That's a decent score for rpg art. Few games get a 10 -- I'm thinking the AD&D2e Monstrous Compendium -- and most of GURPS 3e would get at best a 5 or 6 in my book, so... well done!

That example from p. 10 is nice, sure. I'd probably give the ones on pp. 5, 13, and 28 at least +1 out of 10, though. ;)

Now, if you can equal or even exceed this slightly not safe for work classic by Pat Hidy, I'll tip my hat to ya!
