Vassarious does not have trouble staying on the horse, but rather getting the horse to obey. it moseys around and seems to just follow Yi's beast, always in the back.

What was the event that called for the riding roll?
Spending all day on a horse.

Vassarious pays for the steed and takes a moment to put their heads together and spend a moment in acknowledgement of the creature before riding it.
It responds... and then seems to take advantage of any goodwill Vassarious has for it, begging for treats, and taking whatever path it wants.

I'm honestly surprised Halcyone doesn't have Acrobatics.

Acrobatics

1 + 1 + 6 = 8 ... success
I surprise myself with my sudden grace and land uninjured. I whistle to the horse for it to stop, and climb back on top.

I'll need more than that, but yeah, lets try to streamline this:

You need a roll and a basic technique for each of the following:

  • Getting inside the court (convincing the guards to let you in or sneaking in somehow)
  • Convincing the court that you're not a threat and that this offer won't backfire (like by making them a target of Bel's wrath)
  • Convincing them that its in their best interest to grant you this gift

I'm especially interested if:

  • He tells them he's trying to kill Bel.
  • He's willing to swear a degree of loyalty

Let's sneak in with Tradecraft and shapeshifting. The fewer who know, the fewer possible spies who report all such activity...

Vassarious speaks of believing themselves to be a destined bringer of positive change and asks them to look at his own destiny if they agree to use what they see only to inform their decisions here and not report back to other masters...

Swearing loyalty would depend on their definitions here... They may be willing if the details would not overly limit options. They cannot be loyal to their political structure here if they are going to attack the monarch.

V sneaks in and makes it to the court. Vassarious is of course, unannounced. Immortals and giants draw swords, and great beasts stand on their feet.

Vassarious announces they are a bringing of welcome change pulled by destiny.

The invitation to peek at V's destiny is well received, and the court magicians draw blood from their guest and mix it with a bowl of water and charcoal. They consult with each other for a time, then seem to agree on something.

They offer the transformation in exchange for an oath that V will obey orders forbidding an action* from the witches and the city governor, and that V will return after his destiny to perform one small task for them (taking a day or less). This is void if he perishes. The oath is upon V's immortality and health.

He is offered the choice of what his weakness is: a weapon of some kind, some sort of foe, or some sort of time.

* this can't be used to direct by giving a bunch of negative orders to create a positive one. The intent matters.

Vassarious will agree, provided there is a proviso for a mutual assurance of trust in place to protect Vassarious' secrets and against a potential double-cross, and there would have to be some further definition as to what a "small task" means beyond the timeframe. A minor action can have major ramifications. (Dropping a vial of a bio-agent into the town well is a super quick and easy thing to do...)

Let's go with a time as a vulnerability.

They offer to take a falling objects curse (may I be struck from the sky... its actually a mildly deadly curse and pretty common) as assurance that they will keep his secrets and not double cross him.

The task will be limited to something on the level of fighting a single fight, delivering a message, bringing them something, or finding someone.

Make your roll and tell me what it is.

If you make it, the vulnerability is when the sun is on the horizon, neither up nor down, but split in view between heaven and earth.

At the end of the first day, Yi Belan approaches a village of farmers and offers the owner of the biggest house some fat silver coins in exchange for lodging. The man inspects the coins and then takes them and lets out his house and stable to the travelers. Yi sets about putting up wards. And he mutters something about "trouble will come tomorrow." He wants his own room and sleeps with weapons lying next to him.

I don't like the sound of Trouble. I turn to V: "Heads I take first watch, tails you take first watch?"

IMMORTALITY

3d6
4 + 2 + 1 = 7

Vassarious enjoys the notion of the coin flip in fateworld and consents.
