Re: Things worth having in a Cyberpunk Campaign
Rather than a delivery truck, you have a food truck with storage and oven for prepped foods, like racks of refrigerated pizzas. Robot selects and bakes the pizza, packs and loads it onto one of the rooftop drones along with the breadsticks and wings that went through the oven first. Drones deliver to a commercial windowsill delivery platform with a GPS transponder that was linked to your order, and used by the drone to navigate. Fresh-cooked to you in 10 minutes. If the Truck is depleted of product or ends the night it pilots itself back to the kitchen to be filled and maintained.

These are a few random ideas from one of the world-building threads that could be dropped into many cyberpunk settings.

Re: Things worth having in a Cyberpunk Campaign
We shouldn't forget elder-outrage. Every generation has disdained the shortcuts and excesses of the next. Plato thought that easy access to writing would ruin our ability to memorize. Paper was going to destroy people's ability to clear slate. The internet was going to destroy people's ability to use libraries. Etc.
Also, with new technology comes the youth-corrupting ability to access... devil worshiping music. And... evil games. Byron wrote about the panic the Waltz caused in his time. I remember the Satanic Panic of the 80s. Grunge Rock was going to make everyone kill themselves. There will surely be SOMETHING to be upset about. Maybe we now have AI determining the appropriate age-level for EVERYTHING based on stupid rules. Then an annoying hack would be to set someone's permissions to 12-year-old. |

Re: Things worth having in a Cyberpunk Campaign
That was pretty much what I thought first when I saw that entry, too. In a scenario where the readers aren't supposed to like the authorities, the police might use this just because if any innocent bystanders got killed in the massive shoot-out that followed, it would mean that they could shrug and say "You were warned, should have moved faster". And of course the readers aren't supposed to like the authorities in more cyberpunk than not.

Re: Things worth having in a Cyberpunk Campaign
A “fun” social craze where people get a ping on their mobile to swap clothes with someone while out of sight of cameras. Most people eventually get their own clothes back (or something similar enough to not know the difference) through further swaps, or they get something they think is better than what they originally had.
Unbeknownst to most, it’s a nation-state spy tool. It allows for agents to quick swap clothes out of sight to fool potential tails (people or cameras); and many potentially interesting or useful people have their clothes circulated to people who surreptitiously add trackers and wifi sniffers.

Re: Things worth having in a Cyberpunk Campaign
A decade ago, a hacker collective created self-replicating distributed mesh network drones and seeded most cities.
The drones are slow, rarely move, and slowly chew infrastructure and junk to replicate themselves. The drones are solar-powered or tap electrical cables and they join open networks and occasionally try to splice into wired networks. Their mesh network is slow but mostly anonymous, and once in a while real hackers find a juicy intel feed because somewhere one of the drones tapped a business hard line. A different group of hackers find and feed the drones by leaving electronics trash nearby, and they track the evolution of different variants of mesh drones over the years. Spies and criminals deliberately allow the mesh to connect, and search all the traffic for whatever they can find.
