I believe the modern equivalent of this is 'put the tank on a flatbed trailer'.

LENIN’S ROLLS ROYCE SILVER GHOST (Halftrack) (Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Kegresse 1921)

https://unravellingtravel.com/lenins...-silver-ghost/

https://drivemag.com/red-calipers/le...-snow-and-sand

"Not all cars could withstand long trips on rough country roads, and the "Silver Ghost" proved to be the strongest. But he could not drive freely on the roads covered with snow.

This is how a very non-standard solution to this problem appeared - in 1921 at the Putilovsky plant, the world's only automobile sledges based on Rolls-Royce were built on the basis of the Silver Ghost chassis with a body from the Continental studio specially for the head of state.

Because of such an upgrade, the car's speed dropped from 135 km / h to 60. The driver had to cope with other inconveniences - rubber tracks slipped in wet snow, and the chain transmission was often torn. But Lenin himself was completely delighted with the car created for him and loved to travel on it. And it was simply impossible to get to his dacha in Gorki by anything else. This car has been preserved and exhibited at the Rolls-Royce dealership on the territory of the State Historical Museum-Reserve "Gorki Leninskie" in the Moscow Region."

He must of preferred it to a car. A smooth ride, I wonder?

There was a very narrow window between "just drive on tracks" and "just put it on a train."
