I'm having a pretty un-fun time of it right now. I have three sources of stress and fatigue reinforcing each other: what's left of COVID-19, the onset of SAD (happens every year), and a menace of eviction that'll go to court and end in either having to find a new place to live or living with a hostile landlord (which amounts to "find a new place to live, but a little later on"). The stress has set off an on-again, off-again abdominal pain I've yet to have diagnosed . . . the pain itself and worrying about it have added fatigue and stress. I've gone from my former gets-by-on-six-hours-of-sleep self who could lay claim to IQ > 10 to a 10-hours-of-sleep-isn't-enough person who feels like he has IQ 8. Anyway, this has had implications for my work life and personal life. I'm trying to manage those so that there isn't a spiral. But it's hard.

That sucks, Good luck with the living situation especially, most of the rest at least should go away in time. But you do not need that extra stress.

At least about the fatigue and "wool in the head" I can say, it will normally be better in weeks, I had the same problems after Covid. Of course further stress doesn´t help with this. |

Re: So, how great is Kromm anyway?
This weekend I learned that if I go to bed at 19h and wake up at 7h, and take a nap at 9h, I can go out in the afternoon; that if I take another nap in the evening, I can go out later on; and that if I sleep in and take another morning nap, I can go out the following afternoon as long as I go to bed early that evening. I figure I'm sleeping at least 12 hours a day, one way or another.
Of course, 24 hours - 12 hours asleep = 12 hours for things I normally have 24 - 8 = 16 hours to do. That's 3/4 as much time for personal care, work, household tasks, meals, and pastimes. It puts me in a position where I must cut time given to some of those: less for personal care or meals is bad for physical health, less for pastimes or household tasks (thanks to a depressing living environment) is bad for mental health, and less for work is bad for financial health. Alternatively, I can rush some of this to get it done, which too often ends up being bad for all health.* In the perfect world where I were financially independent, I could be happy enough just dancing and sleeping for the three months I've been told this will take to pass if I don't get sick again (my girlfriend is now ill, so . . .). I'm easy to please. I just have to figure out how to fit work into that. Work pretty much forces me to do less of the things that help me . . . but I can't just skip it, because I'm not rich. I know this is rotten for GURPS fans. It underlines a huge key person risk. For that, I truly apologize. — * In reality I was formerly closer to a 6-to-7-hour-a-night sleeper, so it's more like 12 vs. 17-18 hours and actually worse, for me and for GURPS.

Don't rush, that makes things worse in the long run.

Re: So, how great is Kromm anyway?
I'm very much not rushing, don't worry! My family has informed me that if I miss a month's work, they'll pay me for a month's work. We're not wealthy, but we're a team.
I just worry about the duration. If, a few months later, I'm still like this . . . what do I do? What happens to my work? Things like that. Anyway, I'll be seeing a doctor tomorrow. Maybe there are ways to fight back against this. I have the impression that "Be an 18- to 35-year old" is one solution, but I've missed that boat by a couple of decades.
