TFT enjoys a well earned reputation for having a lethal combat system, so one should expect characters to die now and then. This thread is for sharing your beloved characters who have gone on to meet their maker.

Chogzol was born into a mining community, and spent much of his childhood in exploring mountain mines and caves, and it was there that he first felt the divinity of the ancient God of the Earth, which lead him to become a Follower of the Ancient Path, revering the primal nature deities. Unlike many of the priests, Chogzol was a true believer, and avidly proselytized to those not on the Ancient Path. He even presided at the highly unorthodox marriage of two prootwaddles he converted to the faith by breathing fire and creating rain as proof of the power of his gods. Chogzol had an especial distrust of Christians, who his senior priests suspected had stolen a holy relic from their temple and who Chogzol enjoyed describing to anyone who would listen as what he understood them to be: barbarous cannibals who ate the flesh and drank the blood of their god-become-man.

Chogzol first proved his worth to the temple by incinerating a great many ghouls which had infested the pagan church's catacombs. Later, he helped destroy a number of deadly parasites that had been living in sacrificial bulls and which disrupted a New Year's ritual by erupting from the animals to attack parishioners. Of all the gods, Chogzol most revered Ignem, the God of Fire, and frequently invoked his glorious name when bringing flames down upon his foes. In this way he also helped rid his city's sewers of a dangerous halfling nosferatu, though by pausing his attack to rescue a companion from drowning in the effluent, he allowed the nosferatu to escape death.

It was around this time that Chogzol learned that not all of the priests and acolytes were true believers, and he began feeling called to splinter off and found his own religion that would have no place for cynics and poseurs. Not long after taking part in a dragon butchering, he met the lovely Zevee, a blue-skinned mother of three who all lived underground in a metal house and whose husband had been gone for hundreds of years. She being desperately lonely and he enjoying a captive audience for his teachings about the gods, the two quickly formed a fond attachment. But it was more than that for Chogzol, who took them to be messengers of the gods, and further proof that he should soon found The New Ancient Path, or perhaps, The Ancienter Path. (Those were catchy names, he thought.) Sadly, it was not to be. While on a mission to reunite a family of halflings separated due to mismanagement of a fascist halfling commune, he was set upon by several necrophidiuses (necrophidii?), one of which immediately lashed out with a triple-damage hit for maximum damage. His throat ripped out so far that his head nearly separated from his body, the poor priest died breathlessly mouthing his wretched regret that he would not fulfill his promise to return to the sad and lonely Zevee.

RIP Cogzol. He was too far dead for his physicker companion to save him for his return to Zeevee.

Nicely summarized, Shostak.

I think you underplayed Chogzol's influence on the prootwaddles. Prootville will never be the same, it's fair to say.

I look forward to Bill's contribution to this thread on, oh, let's say, Sunday.

ETA: Looking back in my notes, Chogzol was a part of this game for a bit over two months in-game time. That's kinda a lot happening in two months. It almost seems an unrealistically full two months in fact.
