Re: Black Sheep Of the Royal Family
Where is Bad Reputation in this mix of proposed traits?
You don't get to be a black sheep unless there serious some black marks on your record. Bad Reputation among family members means that she gets left out of important discussions. Bad Reputation among the royal court means that she has very few potential allies on the "inside" among the royal family's retainers. For someone who is perfectly happy to be an ink-stained academic Bad Reputation (Lives Below Her Station) is very likely. It is likely to apply to any class conscious person from servants on up. Servants resent her for not keeping enough of them around and not giving them the perks of serving a wealthy royal household. Social climbers resent her because she refuses to play the game. Her peers and social superiors resent her blurring class boundaries and diminishing their social importance by association. If there's any level of sexism in her society or profession, also consider Bad Reputation (Woman in a Man's Job) which affects most conservative but not actively Intolerant people. If you want to modify Duty, consider adding Involuntary if she's real free spirit who hates all the formality of being royal. If she tries to skive off showing up for formal occasions, more senior members of the royal family either cut off her allowance or send guards/burly footmen to forcibly collect her well in advance, effectively making her a temporary pauper or prisoner. Similar consequences apply if she misbehaves during formal duties, as she is wont to do. Finally, if she goes out of her way to irritate and offend her family and member of the nobility, she will have an Odious Personal Habit (Shocking Behavior). |

Re: Black Sheep Of the Royal Family
How about Social Stigma (Unacknowledged Bastard)? That's one of the best sources of black sheep and it has counterparts in real life and fiction.
As such he can draw on a stipend but can't come near the Court lest The Family be embarrassed.
