Anime Via TVtropes
Yeah I didn't like those other threads. Too scattered
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...otagonistIsRyu Sense of Duty: Victims of Injustice. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...identalPervert Themed Bad Luck: Looking like a lecher http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...tionGirlfriend Possibly an Ally to a character who wants to start out his character as not being very combat capable. But really the best way to do it is to have one player running a combative female character, while another player plays an apparent normal with hidden potential/brainpower. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AdultChild Impulsive Quirk: Playful. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...loofBigBrother Enemy (sometimes). When he isn't, the PC's attitude toward his arrogantly superior brother is Quirk: Resents his brother. The brother himself has Loner. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AnimeInLaws An Enemy who is also a Patron http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...ogantKungFuGuy Bad Temper/Selfish/Overconfident/Impulsive/Intolerant Usually Trained by a Master. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...rtificialHuman Superheroic ST, other exotic advantages. Social Stigma/Secret: Not human http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...AscendedFanboy Social Stigma: Otaku Quirk: Geeks out over the coolness of it all. Then again sometimes it's just an element of his origin story he quickly grows out of. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...stardBoyfriend Type 1: Callous, Bully or Sadist (Nonphysical), Obsession. Handsome. Fashion Sense Type 2: Bad Temper, Jealous, possibly Intolerant Obsession. Handsome http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...ectacledSadist Bad Vision (Mitigator) Sadist (Nonphysical) Callous Obsession (With love interest/victim) Wealth Fashion Sense http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...BeadyEyedLoser Unattractive http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...gBrotherMentor Very hard to do. Usually too involved to be a patron, and people don't generally want their Allies to be the voice of wisdom. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BigEater Perk: Big Eater. Can eat phenomenal amounts of food without lasting effects and has a +1 to HT versus poisoning attempts through food. Gluttony http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Bishonen Handsome. Sometimes Androgynously, depending how how characters react to him. Sometimes has "Bishie Sparkle" as a Perk, giving a +1 reaction from people who are into that sort of thing when it's turned on, but looking very weird. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Bokukko Quirk or Odious Personal Habit: Talks using masculine pronouns. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph.../BridgeBunnies Military Rank 1 http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph.../BromanticFoil Lecherous or Odious Personal Habit. Or both when he's really obnoxious. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph.../BruceLeeClone Style Familiarity Jeet Kune Do. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...tNotTooForeign Social Stigma: Foreign Ancestry. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CakeEater Quirk: Hits On Older Women. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CatGirl Unnatural Feature: Cat Ears. Possibly tail. |

Re: Anime Via TVtropes
This is exactly what I've been talking about. TV Tropes itself, converted to GURPS, mostly covers psychological disadvantages, quirks, dramatic personality types, etc., but this is the approach I was talking about for powers, too. These are the things that make people say, "Oh, yeah, that's anime all right." Originally, when I started these threads, I was thinking along the lines of, "okay, what are the most common and/or typical and/or archetypal powers, power origins, curses, fates, abilities, skills, etc. that show up in anime, and how would you build them in GURPS?"
I mean, I have my own ideas about this--various flavors of super jump and/or flight, innate attacks (particularly those that really hurt demonic creatures and aren't quite so bad for normal humans), various gadget-based powers (magic swords, magic staffs, magic pendants, magic powered armor, etc.), but I was interested in what other people thought. I was trying to get a consensus on powers, builds, etc. I'm also curious what power modifiers are most appropriate...chi would probably work best for some powers, some version of magical (although it would be sanctity that matters rather than mana) would work well for others, etc. Any thoughts on this? (I joking referred to Sailor Moon's abilities as "heart powers"...are they really different than standard chi powers, though?) |

Re: Anime Via TVtropes
Well at the moment I'm working my way down the anime character type list. I'll get to Chunky Updraft eventually.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/CharClone
Quirk: Wears a mask Handsome: Ally: Mecha. A CharClone always pilots a superior machine to that available to normal civilians or the military. It isn't necessarily a robot. Secret: Is a villain or used to be a villain. Destiny: 5 point disadvantage. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ChickMagnet Aspected Weirdness Magnet: (Romantic) Quirk: Oblivious to Women's Feeling or Quirk Girl Shy. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheChikan Secret: Molests Women on the Subway. (The Chikan doesn't necessarily have a compulsive behavior or lecherous. He just gropes women when he thinks the risk of getting caught is low.) http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ChineseGirl Social Stigma (Minority) Style Familiarity (Kung Fu) Beautiful http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...valrousPervert Sense of Duty (Women) Lecherous http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph.../ChristmasCake Yet another anime character with a looks advantage. Quirk: Bad tempered when addressed as "aunt" or "ma'am". http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...ChurchMilitant Japan is actually much more likely than western nations to portray heavily armed or magically endowed members of the Catholic Churches as performing a valuable service. Gunslinger or Magic Aptitude. Possibly Fanatic, but definitely Sense of Duty and Hazardous Duty to the Church. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...Representative Honest Quirk: Busybody Frequently has Mitigated Bad Sight. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...ngyJealousGirl Obsession: The object of her affections. Paranoia? Last edited by David Johnston2; 06-07-2011 at 09:46 AM. |
