Re: What is the future of Dungeon Fantasy?
There are currently some difficulties with the live streaming video production, which I am sure you will all agree is necessary for a project of this importance. My understanding is that a deal is being worked with Vivid Entertainment to handle the streaming.

Re: What is the future of Dungeon Fantasy?
On topic, anyway . . .
• A short (24-page) Dungeon Fantasy volume that I wrote is edited, laid out, checked, and due for release this summer – probably in less than a month's time. That's one.So there's real work happening that should see good writers doubling the length of the series to 10 volumes, if all goes well.

They continually clash with our experts over... thematic aspects of the production. Apparently, they want the titular elven victims of compulsion to have certain prurient secrets. Obviously, I cannot reveal precisely of what those consist, but let it suffice to say that there appears to bea decided element of, shall we say, moral laxity to the view espoused by Weta Workshop... (I'll not say pre-marital intercourse...but...it's not too far away from suggesting it) ...I know! Shocking, isn't? Of course, we all know that the only secrets differently-mentally-abled elves have concern their Purity Rings, that allow them to resist their unhealthy compulsions. Of which they are too shy to speak. And also contractually obliged to Disney not to push on their young and impressionable fans, so as not to allow them to make important life choices for themselves. As that's kind of their niche, as their lawyers indicated. Rather strongly. Oh, is it them I hear 'Ceasing and desisting!' at my door?

I understand the entire New Zealand army has already signed on for work as extras during the climactic scenes and the Massive engine is being redesigned to handle the other 5,000 participants. |

Re: What is the future of Dungeon Fantasy?
Ok, I for one was really excited about Dungeon Fantasy, and like what I see so far. I do have one request, and one that I think was mentioned somewhere else on the boards, and that is examples of characters of 100 -150 pnts. I personally don't like the characters starting at that level, but I am not sure what to shave off and what to keep. It would be great to see low powered examples of each class.
Secondly, and maybe this should go on another thread, I wanted to introduce my preteen to Gurps, but I know it is just too tough for him right now. I run him through adventures using Labyrinth Lord (a basic dungeons and dragons retro-clone) or Castles and Crusades by Troll Lord Games. To make the game much simpler, I have been rewriting the skills as suggested, truncating them quite a bit. So far, I have created broader categories like Edged Weapon, Missle Weapon, Athletics, Subterfuge, and so forth, really shrinking the skills list so it is intuitive and less intimidating. I am also greatly truncating advantages and disadvantages, and redoing how points are spent on skills. I have really been trying to rewrite the game so that it can be read and understood by twelve year olds, in the spirit of the red box Dungeons and Dragons game I got when I was 11. The project is actually shaping up quite nicely, and I will be playtesting my version of Dungeon Fantasy with my kids after GenCon. I am sure, if Dr. Kromm is there, I will be talking with him at the booth a little bit again this year. |
