Monster Race/Class bonuses

If I am fighting a monster that has a bonus/penalty against a specific race/class, does that bonus/penalty get discarded if I discard my race/class?
Example, I enter combat as a level 1 elf and am fighting Squidzilla. Because elves must fight regardless of level, can I discard my race and simply escape? Or does squidzilla only care about what I was when I entered battle?
I would assume that changing race/class also changes bonuses/penalties.

Yes, discarding your Race or Class has immediate effects. However, any abilities that you have paid for with discards (such as the Warrior's "Berserking" ability) stay in effect.
