The emphasis on the wort hurts lead me to belive that this is a realy unpleasant experience.
So? People do boxing, or hire out as thugs etc. Knowing that you only risk losing FP and get a rough but short shock penalty in the process is mild compared to that.

People might be more afraid of being drained my magic.
A boxer or thug understands a bloody nose pretty well, but having you life force drained by magic might just be to creepy.
This will of course depend a lot on setting flavor.

It also depends on the caster who is performing the ritual.
A tribal shaman, a voodoo priest, a witch and a traveling alchemist will all have very different methods, to cover their energy needs.

Of course you will have to pay slightly more than unskilled labour ... but not too much, I suppose.

Also: you are limited in the number of charms you can make? I thought they were the exception to that rule ...

Thaumatology + Magery. But if your client knows Thaumatology (either directly or through a Dabbler), and nominally participates in the ritual, it seems like it's possible to make Charms linked to the client's limit, not the craftsman's. And there's the Charm unbinding optional rule too.

There is an option for alchemy to last (skill+magery)x2 days instead.
I could see a Chandle to ward of spirits as an alternative to a Pastille.

Also a triggered charm should no longer count against your limit, even if the spell is running.
So with some creative triggers you could make sure to depopulate you list of hanging charms fast.
It wouldn't be very practical for wards though.
