Default Wildcard! Skills and Martial Arts Styles

So I had a question come up by one of my players. She wanted to know if she bought a Wildcard! skill and converted the skills she currently has for said Wildcard! skill if they still counted for one of her Martial Arts Style Familiarity perks. I was actually at a bit of a loss, my gut says "Sure" but I wanted to see if anyone else had come across this problem before or had ruled in a specific manner in there games. Also if anyone knows a RAW source which addresses the issue itself.

Thanks for all who answer,

Ghostdancer

If she takes a style as a Wildcard! skill, then she gets the style familiarity perk for free.

If she takes a more generalized Wildcard! skill such as Sword! or Knight!, I'd certainly allow it to supply the needed skills. I tend to be pretty generous with Wilcard! skills, because I find them a little too expensive compared to just increasing attributes.

Yeah she was looking at combining some of her melee weapon skills since she already has most of the ones listed under Sword! but didn't want to get rid of her Style Familiarity (Kenjutsu). I figured it should probably work like this but I needed a brain to pick and my usual sources were off line at the moment.

^_^ Thanks mlangsdorf

Sword at a level of say Attribute+3 is super-expensive comparared to Shortsword, 8 points in Broadsword, and 1pt for Weapon Adaptation for every weapon that deafualts to one of that pair.

Don't think 2 hand sword falls under that... Or Acrobatics for that matter.

But Knight! isn't too unreasonably priced compared to Broadsword DX+4, Shield DX+4, Lance DX+4, Riding DX+4, Leadership IQ+4, Strategy IQ+4, Tactics IQ+4, and Armory (Melee + Body Armor) IQ+4.

Wildcard skills get better when they they cover a lot of different skills, from different attributes, that don't default to each other.

Wildcard skills should be given the greatest latitude possible. They should act as skill prerequisites same as any skill they include.
