New Spell: Charging Rack
College: Enchantment
Charging Rack This spell turns an array of suitable materials into an array of holders for Powerstones, enabling stones placed in them to recharge despite being less than six feet apart; the usual separation is six to eight inches. Exactly what the rack is made from is at the GM's discretion, but curved metal rods, especially precious metals, are classic; the rack will typically cost $250 to $300 per socket. This cost can be reduced by as much as 90% if the enchanter creates the rack personally, but this requires a successful roll against (relevant craft)-5. If the rack is of insufficient quality, this will become clear as soon as the enchanting is begun. Cost: 100 energy per socket for a non-portable array, such as a cupboard or cabinet. Double cost for a portable array such as a crown, bracelet or body harness. Prerequisites: Magery 2, Powerstone, Spell Shield Last edited by Whitewings; 05-08-2024 at 08:54 AM. |

Re: New Spell: Charging Rack
Yes, but I don’t like it. The cost is fixed, so a rack that covers the entire wall of a university basement costs just the same as a little cabinet barely big enough to hold four stones.

Re: New Spell: Charging Rack
I'd charge energy and $ for the item based on Number of Sockets + Total Powerstone Energy each socket can hold.
If you want to complicate the spell, you could increase energy and $ cost based on each halving of the 2-yard rule for Powerstone charging. You could also rule that there's no cost increase as long as the item's total area is the same as that needed to charge all the Powerstones it contains individually. For example, you could have "recharging conduits" running all through a building, leading to a safe holding multiple Powerstones. |
