I have enough up I think for someone to use for a local or con game.

A zombie survival RPG scenario/sandbox for 6 players

This thread is for suggestions, complaints and general discussion.

Thanks!

Symbiotic Fungal Protozoa Mycovirus-Mutated Infection

Vector: Blood Agent
Resistance Roll: Virulence + Contagion, Bite HT-9
Delay: 1d6x5 seconds (local excision or amputation can prevent infection)
Damage: 1d-2 toxic
Cycles: 100, hourly
Symptoms: at 1/3 loss HP: -2 to ST, DX, IQ, HT and Gain: Bad Temper 6-, Chronic Depression 6-, Compulsive Behavior (seek out quiet dark places) 6-, Sleepy (2/3 time, per day), Slow Riser, Terminally Ill (one month or less); at 2/3 loss HP; -4 to ST, DX, IQ and HT: at -HP acquire "The Infected" template.

The process started in Zombie Fungus infected (female) mosquitoes carrying Malaria. A mycovirus infected the fungus, causing rapid mutation. The fungus lost the ability to sprout a spore stalk and instead replicated spores internally in the host. The neural programming was changed. Instead of finding a place to "clamp and sprout", the insect was made more aggressive. When it bit another insect, it would infect that insect with the fungus.

Eventually, the mycovirus jumped species and infected the Malaria protozoa. The protozoa became stronger and absorbed fungal spores.

Once the mosquitoes bit a human host, the protozoa would not only reproduce quickly but also release spores. The host then is infected with a combination of resistant Malaria and the Zombie Fungus. The mutations continued to rapidly form the symbiosis and reprogramming of the human host to the current infection.

I updated the survivors to 225 points based on feedback from several sessions. The link to the Google Share is on the Obsidian Portal site (includes a GCA file with two templates, one for survivors and one for equipment). I will have the Wiki updated soon with more information.

I kicked the tires on this at Drgonflight (game convention) and now with 2 sessions at our local game club and GURPS Seattle Meetup. It's been a blast! Also, clearing the cobwebs from my GURPS system mastery... :-)

My group will be segueing to Monster Hunters when they decide the apocalypse has worn out its welcome. :-)

Is the group open to new players?

Not currently.

I am trying to form a 2nd table for GURPS Sundays at Metro Seattle Gamers. I have three potential players. I need a GM, that generally gets the ball rolling faster.

These are in-person games in Seattle, WA.

I am planning on posting all relevant info to Obsidian Portal, so you (or anyone) are welcome to take the characters and Infected and run your own survival scenarios in beleaguered Lawrence, KS.

To clarify - I posted here to share the work on this. My hope is it can serve as a convention scenario/pick-up game. The Infected are potent living zombies who regenerate due to the mutated fungus that has taken over the host. They come out at night to hunt uninfected humans. So far, the games have kept the players wary, fearful and motivated. :-)

Updated the characters on the OP site using GCA, 225 points with the awesome Bookish layout in Textile export (what a nice time saver!!). The GCA files and PDFs are on the Google Drive.

I uploaded The Infected GCA file and PDF in the GMs only folder on the Google Drive.

Let me know you're thoughts. I need to work on the random encounters and scavenging tables. :-)
