Weapon enhancement for double knockback?
Is there a weapon enhancement for double knockback? Something like
Troll: Your weapon incorporates the power of the trollish punch, doing double knockback. Limited to Baton, Club, Knobbed Club, Tonfa, Nunchaku, Jo, Long Staff, Quarterstaff, and Humongous Club. Cannot be combined with Elven or Dwarven enhancements. +3 CF

Re: Weapon enhancement for double knockback?
There is now!
I would limit it to axe (maybe), club, and hammer style weapons personally. Definitely appropriate for any weapon that enhances or emulates punching and kicking, like a cestus or punching dagger. Polearms probably not, mauls YES |

Re: Weapon enhancement for double knockback?
Axe/Mace weapons and weapons used with the striking skills? Do you think +3 CF is the right amount? I feel like it's a little high.

Felt low to me, so it's probably about right.

Re: Weapon enhancement for double knockback?
I just looked at the Humongous Club in the weapons table and thought - this needs more knockback.

Re: Weapon enhancement for double knockback?
I'd restrict it to "Nonmetal sw-damage weapons", in fact (That'd be the Knobbed Club, Tonfa, Nunchaku, Jo, Long Staff, Quarterstaff, and Humongous Club). Trolls, after all, don't use forges - they hate fire! - so "Trollish metal weapons" probably aren't a thing.
If someone wanted to add a little complexity, stone versions of metal weapons have an armor divisor of (0.5) on cutting and impaling damage, doubling any DR the target has and treating DR 0 as DR 1; they also have +2 to breakage odds and -1 acc if thrown. The base cost of stone weapons is 40% that of steel. Bone versions of metal weapons change cutting attacks to crushing and do -1 damage; if the weapon has an impaling attack, that gains an armor divisor of (0.5). They also have +2 to breakage odds. The base cost of bone weapons is 5% that of steel.

Re: Weapon enhancement for double knockback?
I'm not sure I'd allow it on a Staff or any other particularly good parry weapon

If I were a wizard and you let me, I'd want it... which might support your feeling. But now I have this image of a wizard with a trollish staff knocking foes back.

Re: Weapon enhancement for double knockback?
Hadn't really though of the CF much.
I suppose if the enhancement can affect lots of things it'll be higher, and lower if it only applies to a small amount of things. Or, it can cost more if it applies to non-trollish weapons. So, +3-5CF for something that's metal or an axe/mace weapon that does cut/imp damage. +1-2CF for non-metal crushing weapons, or versions of axe/mace/striker weapons that are made of stone, bone, etc. Obviously non-trollish weapons like a staff or something would be like... I dunno +10cf. Clearly if this is something looted from an enemy, then themeing it to the appropriate weapon is easy, so stone maul would be :chefkiss: |
