oh you mean 2/3's not .7

and no they not the same this. simply due to the 5 times table is much easyer to do in your head than than the 7 times table

It's close enough, specially knowing you will need to round it up to a whole number.

My not the same argument wasn't about rounding accuracy it was about ease of calculation. the 7 times tables actually hard enough that multiplying by 2/3 direct fraction math might actually be easier.

Multiplying by 1.5 for cutting damage is one step. Deciding how many attacks you want to make, then multiplying ST by (0.7*(Number of attacks-1)), then looking up the new damage, and applying the rules for Min ST, is way way too much to do as an Attack Option.

You can instead use this rule of thumb:
Instead of multiplying by 0.7 for 2 attacks, give -1/die.
(The math behind it is: Average d6 is 3.5, average d6-1 is 2.5, 2.5/3.5 is 0.71)
For 3 attacks, halve the damage.(0.7^2 equals 0.49, very close to 0.5)
For 4 attacks divide it by 3(0.7^3 is 0.343, very close to 0.3333)
For 5 divide it by 4(0.7^4 is 0.24, very close to 0.25)
For 6 divide by 6(0.7^5 is 0.168, very close to 1.66)

That handles the damage part of Anthony's suggestion but not the Min ST part.

If you want a simple version:

Rapid Strike: balanced weapon only. You must have 1.5x the min ST of the weapon. Damage is -1 per die (yes, this isn't identical to x0.7 ST, but whatever).

I'm closing this thread so we can consolidate all of the discussion in this one:

And please note my response:

If you want to simulate what he's doing in GURPS, roll vs. the lower of Bow Art or Fast-Draw (Arrow), with all applicable penalties for both, but bonuses for TDM and appropriate gear (e.g., a low-draw bow and custom quiver). Success fires one arrow in the general direction of a target, plus one additional arrow for every two full points of success, in a single second.
