Thanks for the shoutout! It was a fun writing prompt -- and it was a better universe to use than any of the recent stories/prompts I've answered.

(Oh, and to answer your email Q, yes, I do have the .html files from DTM online, even if I'm not sure where the original files for the paper magazine! Searching for "Civic Wars" -- found some WordPerfect files -- uh oh)

I'm over there trying to hint that we all want more autoduel fiction! :D

I'm hoping the 'lost' CW novels will get re-released in Epub format, so that long-time players and new can enjoy them.

That would be neat but would require a possibly large amount of homework, since the original publisher has the rights - unless they have reverted to authors or their estates. We are merely the licensor.

Chernobyl,

I was going to mention the four issues of Car Warriors just as you posted your message. :o)

Car Warriors Vol. 1, No. 1: The Mad Mex
Publisher: Epic Comics
Date: June 1991

Car Warriors Vol. 1, No. 2: Diamonds and Steel
Publisher: Epic Comics
Date: July 1991

Car Warriors Vol. 1, No. 3: The Run
Publisher: Epic Comics
Date: August 1991

Car Warriors Vol. 1, No. 4: Bloody Blacktop
Publisher: Epic Comics
Date: September 1991

Although not published by Steve Jackson Games, the Driving Tigers/Road Wolves wrote several excellent short stories in the Car Wars gameworld. The Driving Tigers/Road Wolves also published a limited print run of a Car Wars fiction anthology titled "Civic Wars" in the early 1990s.

I'd love to put the old Driving Tigers stories or even "Civic Wars" into Epub format, but I'd have to find out how to do that. Actually, first, I'd have to get permission again because whatever permission I had 20+ years ago (Gawd! was it that long?), I'm sure it didn't cover electronic books!

Not a lawyer, but: I should think after this long, any rights would have reverted to The Author. I can point you in the direction of some of the e-pub'ing types I know if you want Expert Opinions.

I played a couple of the game novels. Pretty interesting stuff, if somewhat basic.
