Does a Balanced weapon get +1 to Fast-Draw?
Does a Balanced weapon get +1 to Fast-Draw? It seems like "+1 to skill with any melee weapon" leaves the door wide open for it. It also seems intuitively correct. Weapon Bond also gives +1 to Fast-Draw, right?

Not by RAW in either case, but it could be a fun house rule in a DF game. |

Agreed. I can't see how it would unbalance (heh) anything. Sounds like fun.

Re: Does a Balanced weapon get +1 to Fast-Draw?
Given that "Unbalanced" weapons add U to parry stat (LTC2p12) we should probably have a more specific name for the +1 to skill attribute Julian is referring to, like "superbalanced" perhaps?
Especially since B208 refers to ALL swords as "balanced" in avoiding the U attribute (can hit/parry in same turn) could be cool to have a continuum for that, like instead of B/U dichotomy you have a roll to re-ready your weapon after every attack (free action like a fast draw) with failure meaning you either need to use attacks or parries to attempt to re-ready it (with a high degree of success except when grappled) Using a parry would explain a soft cap on parries: the -4 cumulative. Pg 13 of LTC2 actually distinguishes "balanced for melee" (avoid a -2 for balanced-only-for-throwing weapons) and "balanced for throwing" (avoid the 1-Max Reach penalty which applies to thrown weapons) where having both is "dual-purpose". Spears appear to be the only weapons designed to be dual-purpose inherently, for others I think that's an extra cost? Pg 16 uses term "well-balanced" which seems to relate to lower ST requirements. |

Re: Does a Balanced weapon get +1 to Fast-Draw?
Since Fast-draw was a Skill before Perks were invented, my group pretty much universally house rules it a Perk like Quick Sheath is. Any rolls involving the perk use Skill level, so in our games certainly the bonus applies.

Putting a single point in Fast-Draw (allowing use at DX since it's Easy) is the same price as a perk. Not sure I'm understanding what change you're proposing. |

Re: Does a Balanced weapon get +1 to Fast-Draw?
He uses Sword skill, not Fast-Draw skill. If he has DX 16 and Broadsword-20 he rolls against 20, not 16.

Re: Does a Balanced weapon get +1 to Fast-Draw?
No, the perk applies to all sword skills.
So if you have Shortsword-18 and Broadsword-20 you FD shortsword at 18 and broadsword at 20.

Re: Does a Balanced weapon get +1 to Fast-Draw?
It's more like a mutation of the Weapon Adaptation Perk, except one end of the adaptation is Fast-Draw skill rather than a weapon. So following the format of the examples in the perk text {PU2,p8}, the analogous format would be Sword to Fast-Draw, or Bow to Fast-Draw. Fast Draw as a stand alone skill becomes redundant.
