Er. So on the one hand, I can't see any difference between those two. Nobody 'has the upper hand', one character or the other had a better number and got no benefit from it.

On the other more significant hand, you appear to have doubled the effectiveness of shields, since you add DB to your block and then still block the attack if you fail the contest by DB or less. Maybe appropriate since you've doubled the scale of the basic defense values.
