The Box of Delivery appears to be a simple wooden box, but it is a horrid little device that transforms anyone who opens it into a newly delivered babe, permanently stripping them of their years of growth and memories. It is actually a sapient and malevolent object, with alien hungers that cause it feed on human experiences. If the individual who opened it is fortunate, someone will find them before they die of exposure. Either way, it will not feed again until one month has passed for every year that it consumed from its previous victim.

Next up, the Bracelets of the New Moon.

These paired items are mostly beneficial, only working when worn together. The wearer cannot remove them without resorting to amputation of the hands, though they may be taken off by any other person simply by working the clasps.

While worn, the person they are on is treated as though a New Moon was in the sky for all magical and mundane purposes. Most notably, werecreatures who require a different phase or are triggered by it will not transform. Also, the moon in the sky and the light it reflects is not visible to any wearer, so they ignore it when determining darkness penalties if any. Wearers with Lunacy function as though the moon is New, and Magery limited to a different phase will be inaccessible (though Magery tied to the New Moon will function all the time, and any discount gained for it will be reduced by the proper amount for an easily-Breakable Gadget that Can Be Stolen by force or guile).

The Crooked Hat is an elegant silk hat and may very well be the most straightforward magic item in the collection. First of all [and less importantly], the hat is always worn with the largest possible tilt that is fashionable. Second, while wearing the hat, everyone you lie to gains Gullibility (15) (or reduces their self-control number by 3 if they already have it). Finally, the wearer of the hat is telepathically linked with the spirit of the hat, who is a masterful con artist loyal to whoever wears the hat.

Gaze upon it at your peril!

Anyone who looks at the Mirror of the New Future experiences the same thing. They see the sole of a boot coming at them, and feel a kick in the face (1d cr damage) every second for as long as they keep looking.

OK, Elmazakar's Bloom of Deviance isn't a magic item per se, but it's part of the collection all the same. This ingredient was bred by the great horticulturalist Elmazakar in her greenhouse in the Bolivian Andes, it's petals plucked just hours after blooming. There are three main uses:

1) If consumed directly, it grants Versatile and Odious Personal Habit (Uninhibited). This can be addictive.

2) It can be added when brewing a love potion. This causes the potion to eliminate any attachments or other mental blocks that would interfere with the new relationship. It also adds an Odious Personal Habit, usually of an intimate nature.

3) It can be burnt to desecrate a holy place of most gods, or to consecrate a holy place for a god of chaos or love. Without any sort of ritual the effect ends when the flames die out, but with ritual it's effects can last for months. The fumes are mildly intoxicating.

This is a 0.5" thick plate of rose quartz, roughly the size of a modern-day business card. While it is perfectly flat (and all angles are precisely 90-degrees), at least to the limits of what can be measured, it otherwise seems completely mundane, not detecting as magical, divine, psionic, etc. Nonetheless, roughly 1 in 6 people (a roll of 1 on 1d) who see it gain Obsession (Obtain and hold onto the Planar Crystal of Desire), as well as a Higher Purpose for the same. It also grants Delusion (The more people who see the Planar Crystal of Desire, the more powerful I become) (optionally, this may not be entirely inaccurate, with the bonus from Higher Purpose increasing slowly as more people see it). The number of deaths that have occurred as a result are estimated to be in the thousands.

Next up: The Philter of Phishing.

This unadorned but high-quality phisherman’s net shows a slight divine aura, but not a magical one. The net itself is resistant to regular wear and tear, and grants a significant +4 bonus to catching phish using the Phishing skill, but NOT the Fishing skill. Users permanently gain the Quirk: Switches “Ph” and “F”. Along one edge of the net is a small brass tag with the words, “Property of Fil. Please return promptly.”

The Vaze of Gaze is a small vase, green with stylized blue floral patterns. Usually. When anyone looks at it for more than a second or two, the patterns start to move and become more life-like. The image is often described as a field of wildflowers moving in a gentle summer breeze. The longer you look, the harder it is to pull your gaze away. There are rumors that if you stare at the Vaze of Gaze long enough, it will begin to affect your other senses too: You can smell the flowers, feel the breeze against your skin, and hear its whisper. Controlled experiments have failed to reproduce these other effects, and testing has been banned since an entire research team was found dead, sitting around the Vaze of Gaze with mesmerized looks on their dead faces.

Up next: The Helping Hand of Doom.

There are two artifacts named The Helping Hand of Doom.

The older of them is a finely-wrought silver hand, fashioned to replace the right hand of one Vittorio di Domo, the majordomo of a Venetian merchant-prince; the hand was lost when Vittorio defended his master’s palazzo from assassins, and his grateful master had an enchanted hand made for him. The name changed from the intended “Domo” to “Doom” because the silversmith’s apprentice was was poorly literate, and reversed two letters when stamping the name into the hand.
The hand itself it is a prosthetic hand designed to unlock from the arm attachment with a simple action by a left hand. It is enchanted to fly up to 20 yards from the owner, and can be commanded to perform many non-combat actions, but only within someone’s home. If the owner has lost his own right hand and replaces it with The Helping Hand of Doom, the hand acts as a true extension of the body (like a physical, telekinetic, long distance hand with a range of Line of Sight), albeit one that cannot change shape.
In form, it is slightly cupped with a separate thumb, allowing it to carry objects with some sort of handle, or carry anything specially made for the hand.

The Second Helping Hand of Doom is a demonic artifact brought into this world by a demon-worshipper cult. Physically it is an upright symmetric hand (with a thumb on each side) made of serpentine and limned in black iron. Anyone who prays to the hand for a few minutes and offers a small sacrifice of their own blood (1 ounce is enough, blood is absorbed into the stone) gains Luck for the day. If someone sacrifices enough blood over time to reach their total blood volume (about 166 ounces of blood for the average person), their soul is silently, invisibly sold to the demon.

Centuries ago, an Orc raiding party pillaged the remote enclave of scholars that once nestled in the Snowy Heights Pass. The scholars had long been nuturing a spirit of knowledge in the hopes of growing into a patron god for their order. The orcish shaman accompanying the raiders bottled the spirit into the first thing that came to hand, a sturdy, short section of a pear tree branch, and brought it back to their homeland.

The spirit survives in the stick, which is now known as Charadon's Stick of Wonder. To use the SoW, one need merely hold it and say a question beginning with the phrase "I wonder...". The spirit will then reply to the question, giving a comprehensive recitation of all it knows on the subject. There are drawbacks however. The reply is not interactive, the spirit cannot be interrupted, redirected, or paused until the spirit has spoken its full (sometimes excessive) answer, and follow-up questions do not register as such. The Orc Grand Chief now in possession of the stick has hired a team of scribes to pose questions of the stick and record its responses on a growing library of scrolls.
