It's pretty good at coming up with a lot of ideas quickly, some of them useful. In certain circumstances, it's faster to find five good ideas among twenty iffy ones than it is to come up with the five ideas in the first place.

For game prep, I find it fairly useful in coming up with backstory details that can be left kind of generic but needs to be not repetitive (the "every minor NPC is named Dave" problem).
