You can easily make more holy water in the field if you #dip water into the holy water.

In Nethack, you could bless a normal item (or uncurse a cursed item) by dipping it in holy water, at a cost of the holy water. Also, you could dip a stack of items, potions of water stacked, and a potion of holy water was a blessed potion of water, so you dip your ten potions of water (acquired by dipping useless potions into fountains) into your one potion of holy water and you now have ten potions of holy water.

So, in essence a game of homeopathic magic.

Could we drop Holy Water into a river and turn it into a "Holy River"? Lol that could be useful

You have to dip the river in the holy water not the other way around.

TAKE RIVER > You can't take that
DIP RIVER IN HOLY WATER > Are you insane?

There's no options to #dip a river in holy water. I think you can #dip the holy water in a river, but doing so just turns it into ordinary water.

Also, I think there was a big chunk in one of the GURPS rule books about the theology of Holy Water and how much tolerance it could have for adventurers playing fast and loose with it. Not directly DF, but we've already drifted into NetHack.

As a GM, I would have injury from holy water bypass DR. First of all, this provides an answer to the question of "why not just use acid"; secondly, the weakness of certain monsters to holy water is similar to the Weakness disadvantage from GURPS, which says that the injury "comes off your HP directly, regardless of your DR or defensive advantages".

Additionally (or instead), holy water ought to be either a required component or a source of optional bonuses in many clerical rituals- that's what it gets used for in reality, after all.

Well, maybe bless a dam... that may be absurd, but you could actually make a pool of Holy water, after that if it's a small river, you could change its course to "dip the river" into the pool of holy water... And have an infinity source, theoretically...

And create a magical river in the process...

EDIT: Im not entirely sympathetic to that "divine homeopathy" thou
