Default Flask of Glue and Out to Lunch

So we have this problem:

Player 1 draws monster card
and plays the Out to Lunch card.

Player 2 then plays the Flask of Glue card.

We agreed that the ‘escapes for any reason’ part could be interpreted as valid, but we are now arguing about the ‘ They must re-roll their escape (even if it was automatic the first time).’

Player 1 argues: I didn’t roll, monster was out of lunch, so it wasn’t an escape. I didn’t combat. So the card doesn’t work here.

Player 2 argues: Out to lunch goes under ‘escape for any reason’ and you have to roll your escape because your escape was automatic the first time.

Who is right?

PS please reply soon! We are on day 10 of the strictest lockdown and isolation here (due to Covid) and we are driving each other mad. I don’t want to argue this for the rest of our isolation.

Player 1 is right. The combat is just over (assuming there was only one monster), no escape is necessary. Out To Lunch removes the monster from combat just like all the other similar cards.

Also with the latest rules, if Out to Lunch removed the last (or only) monster in the combat, combat ends immediately so Flask of Glue could not legally be played to start with.

Remember, any card that grants automatic escape states this on the card. If a card ends combat but does not specifically state that a player "Escapes automatically", than that player is not considered escaping so Flask of Glue or any other card that affects escaping could not be played.

The first player is correct. There is no need to flee because the battle is over (if there was just one monster). Out To Lunch, like all other comparable cards, removes the monster from battle.

Also, according to the most recent rules, if Out to Lunch removes the final (or only) monster in a fight, the fight ends instantly, hence Flask of Glue could not be legally played to begin with.

Remember that any card that permits automatic escape specifies this. Flask of Glue or any other card that affects escape cannot be played if a card ends combat but does not clearly specify that a player "Escapes automatically."
