It might be pointed out that the historical approach that FT takes, while an entertaining organizational device, pretty much inevitably produces a hodgepodge of random stuff.

I agree that radically different styles of tech (say Hard SciFi verus Comicbook MagiTech) would need very different styles of presentation, and different story needs. Which to my mind argues against repetitiveness.
