What version of Car Wars are you playing?

I decided to play the 5ed but have decided to use the construction rules from 2.5ed. I like the game play of five but as we all know it lacks the construction rules for vehicles.

Compendium 2.5 with the 5e fire rules-- but mostly with pocket box era equipment and the designs from the first vehicle guide.

5th ed. rules (except for rolling to-hit), 2.5 construction, minus most stuff that wasn't in the pocket boxes. More or less. I've used both 1/64th stuff and original scale recently.

are you guys using HW/MB cars or paper counters? I've been using M2 cars with stan johansen weapons.

My kids love Jada's Battle Machines, so that's what we play with. I am getting ready to run some games with the original counters.

I play almost exclusively with the original Denis Loubet counters. (I taped the wrecks on the flip side to make them heavier and to protect them.) Also: there is so much variety with the vintage map sheets that I prefer them over anything else, but I do like drawing up other arenas on the blank map sheets as well.

Mostly 2.5 cross-braced with GURPS tuned with elements of other games and home variants.

I am looking at migrating to a less game mechanics heavy system for the combats and referencing out to GURPS for the inter-combat elements.

Or I might just save myself the effort and just write fiction ;)

Somewhat same here. I like the 2.5 rules the best and using pocketbox or at least Deluxe version or earlier equipment fits into what I imagine the story line of Car Wars to be before it jumped the shark.

Basiclly 2e compendium rules, with a few house rules depending on the players. Note, I use all the 2e errata so its probably more like 2.25e. I like to play with 1/64 scale cars, but have a collection of printed 1x scale counters.
