Re: Real-Life Weirdness
If you needed more proof that we are living in cyberpunk, here's a messianic cult that has believers ascending to a cyberspace realm upon their death:
The Obscure 4chan Religion That Promises a Cyberpunk Afterlife: Anime cult or 4chan prank? Unravelling the mystery of systemspace.

Re: Real-Life Weirdness
Monster hunters, assemble.
Mysterious North Korean Ghost Ships Full of Skeletons Wash Up In Japan Hardly anything else needs to be said other than the title (which I took from Newsweek, though the link leads to a more informative article from the Independent). It's not the only such case; there have been four such ships this month alone. And the number of such cases has been rising... "During the summer, the Sea of Japan is quite calm. But it starts to get choppy when November comes. It gets dangerous when northwesterly winds start to blow". Or to put it another way, "That good ship and crew was a bone to be chewed when the gales of November came early." It's beginning to look a lot like Fomor, everywhere you go. CNN has some video for visual inspiration. |

The Woebot....a chatbot therapist.
https://woebot.io/ First, I am stealing that name for a mad scientist's death machine at my first opportunity. Second, the gaming potential. Consult the Woebot after your Mythos Encouter, for example. Or hack the woebot to mess with an NPC. |

Re: Real-Life Weirdness
Pingos - Drive your players crazy with these earthworks that aren't made by bronze age cultures, ancient astronauts, nor faeries.
Pingos are hills thrown up out of frozen tundra by nothing more than epic frost heave, surrounded by bizarre polygonal land formations, also caused by frost heave (looks like a Voroni diagram). Check out the pictures, they really look artificial. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pingo Of course, in your game they could be artificial. And why not scale it up to the size of a mountain? Inexplicably sitting in the middle of a desolate plain :)

Re: Real-Life Weirdness
I'm used to seeing those, on a much smaller scale, in badly laid tarmac.

Re: Real-Life Weirdness
The discovery of a gravitic anomaly beneath the Antarctic ice isn't exactly new, but for some reason British, ah, less-than-reputable news sources have decided it's time to revisit theories (and "theories") regarding it.

It's not unheard of for a freshly laid road to last a year before developing some crazy cracks and a whole bumper crop of potholes, if we have a bad freeze-thaw cycle.
