Force shields and armor divisors
I seem to know that armor divisors do not apply to force shields, but I can't actually find the rule that says this. Where is it? I especially want to relate this to GURPS Spaceships.
And is there anything that describes force shields that are affected by armor divisors? That seems familiar too, somehow. Last edited by Stormcrow; 10-22-2009 at 06:51 PM. |

Re: Force shields and armor divisors
DR is DR. There are hardened and non-hardened force fields, but there's nothing intrinsic that gives force fields immunity to armor divisors.

Re: Force shields and armor divisors
By default, force screens lack any sort of hardening. Spaceships p.32 notes that you can add hardening at a cost of +50%, although there is no mention of multiple levels (I'd say +50%/level would be appropriate). Force shields (which are two-dimensional, used either as a proper shield or as portable cover) are by default hardened. They also appear to lack the semi-ablative property of force screens.

Re: Force shields and armor divisors
Looking back through UT, it turns out there are two Cosmic Armor Divisor weapons that force screens can defend against - graviton beams (at 1/100 DR) and disintegrators (at 1/10 DR). Aside from these two, however, force screens lack any innate Hardening (and the effect is probably more an attribute of the weapons than the screens).

It's not the rule in 4e unless you house rule it so.
