I was replying because Peter made it sound like using basic-stat NPCs was Bad

I didn't say that either way was better than the other, just that his claim represented him and couple of other GURPSers. Neither method of statting up NPCs has ever been marked as WRONG, and there are surely benefits to both ways.
Peter's comment was like a slap in the face to every GM out there that used faster versions of writing up their NPC, and a quite poorly justified slap too, since most of the writers and editors agree that statting up NPCs in a more minimalistic way is fine.

I think it's best to avoid confusing the newbies with blanket statements.

Now that's taking a statement a little too personal...

...

...in my opinion ;-).

<sighs, searches around for Moderator hat, finds and dons it>

Guys, knock off the "opinion war" immediately. This is a blanket Official Warning. Further posts should address the OP's issue.

And for the record:

1. There's nothing wrong with the belief that NPC abilities don't need to be statted out. Many of the people who write GURPS rules agree with this completely. Stating as much is fine -- stating it repeatedly in a thread (including if you're just loudly agreeing with someone who already said it) is too much.

2. There's nothing wrong with the belief that NPC abilities should be written up (or, at least, be able to be written up). Many of the people who write GURPS rules agree with this completely. Stating as much is fine -- stating it repeatedly in a thread (including if you're just loudly agreeing with someone who already said it) is too much.

3. Peter has the quirk, "States personal opinions as if they were blanket statements of fact." I'm not excusing it (it's bad for communication at best, provocative at worst), merely informing the rest of the room.

Now, go back to talking about coin monsters.

<takes hat off and tosses it over his shoulder>

As for the Shrinking approach, is there a good way to get that Advantage to handle sizes between size modifiers?

Well, I wasn't really taking it personally, just pointing out that it sounded quite provocative. Provocative enough that I decided to comment on it.
Probably should have ignored it, or at least phrased myself better since it just earned me a warning.

Friends? ;)

I'm a bit low on time at the moment, but I'll check back later and see if I can help out with your this coin monstrosity. ;)
