In general what is the Bioroid to Human ratio in Transhuman Space?
From what I can see it seems quite low. Maybe less than 1:1000? or even 1:10,000 Last edited by lachimba; 02-26-2010 at 08:57 PM. |

Bioroids are controversial in wealthy areas like the EU and accepted in poorer areas like the Caliphate. Thus those who could make vast numbers of them don't, and those who'd want to make vast numbers of them can't. So numbers stay down.
If there was a general belief that bioroids aren't real people, just simulations, they'd be more common. If there was a general belief that bioroids were fully human/sophant no one would want them.

That's the right range, probably toward the upper end. Several millions of bioroids and several billions of people. But they're quite a bit more common as a fraction of extraterrestrial populations - which are also miniscule but a major focus of the setting description.
