The GM could have a Mnoren take an interest in the party of adventurers. He would mess with them, cause them problems, etc. but somehow, after each interaction they are somehow a little closer to their goal.

Just a thought.
Excellent idea! A variant: the Mnoren kept getting them into trouble because he knew they'd come out the other side better for it. Like, he was preparing them for a big baddie to come - the Mnoren's arch-nemesis.

Or the opposite. The Mnoren keeps leading them to good fortune but in the process tricks them into setting his diabolic plans in motion. In the end, the Mnoren is the big baddie the party has to snuff out.

Players hoarding prisoners to drain ST from to re-power their staves and heal themselves even after you've chided them?

"You first hear a high-pitched hum as the colors around you begin to look white-washed. Suddenly a blinding white light encompasses you. A loud, deep voice echoes all around. 'THESE YOU SHALL NOT HAVE.'

As suddenly as it appeared, the light is gone and you find yourselves laying on the ground in fetal positions. As you rise and look around, half of your prisoners are gone."

Or it might be more fun if the prisoners begin contracting a life-threatening disease.
