Hostile Intent: Bloodhawk

Sometimes you need to make a statement. When you want your enemies to know they have gone too far, you can hire Bloodhawk. A cybernetically enhanced mercenary, Bloodhawk specializes in brutally eliminating his targets. It doesn't matter if the targets are wearing a cape and mask, or fatigues, if the money is right, Bloodhawk will take your targets down!

Written by Dominique Sumner, with full color art by Joe Singleton, and layout by Walt Robillard. Each volume of Hostile Intent presents an extensively detailed character, or villainous organization, that can be seamlessly integrated into your Villains and Vigilantes roleplaying game; from a one-shot adventure to an ongoing campaign. From New Millennium Games - Published by HAZARD Studios.

Hostile Intent: Gorgon

What's an archaeologist with a penchant for lining his pockets to do when he finds an ancient mask that appears to call to him? Once he donned the mask, everything changed in the life of Stefon Pulos. He was powerful and now had the ability to take what he wanted in life. Can your heroes convince him otherwise?

Hostile Intent: Blackstar

Martin Furlong was never what one might call, "a winner." His drug addicted lifestyle had almost reached a terminal end when a meteor came apart, showering him in radioactive dust. Martin became a man transformed. If only the meteor could have kept him from becoming a supernatural menace.

That's something I've wondered about for my own World War II continuity. What would happen if the Canal got taken out of operation during World War II?

It slows things down for the Allies, but not that much. There are trans-continental railroads in the USA and Canada that can shift troops, equipment and supplies. It means warships transferring between the Pacific and Atlantic fleets have to go round Cape Horn, which wastes time. That's about the total effect, until it gets repaired. The gates are hollow steel structures, repairable with ship-repair technologies.

Wrecking the canal so that it's unrepairable is quite hard. Damaging lock gates in both lanes in the same flight of locks will stop it being used, but there are extreme safety precautions against disaster. The uphill gates of each lock are duplicated, to prevent the central lake draining through the canal. The downhill gates are not duplicated, and are thus the point to attack, but there's a set of secondary gates half-way along each lock, so even if the downhill gates are wrecked, smaller ships can get through.

The US Army Corps of Engineers knew the canal would become important, and applied themselves quite thoroughly to making it reliable and hard to wreck.

The US Army also stationed a sizeable contingent of troops there during the war. I talked to an MP stationed there. His unit was formed up, and shipped to Panama in 1941 and stayed there until the Allies occupied Germany, then he was transferred there as part of the occupation force.
