It's important to note that you're allowed 3 attempts before you have to go through a process to "reset" your number of attempts (to prevent hammering the server, prevent the use of download accelerators, and to cut down on a problem they had with account sharing).

So if your connection is a bit shakey (or you're on dialup/satelite), I recommend bringing a portable harddrive in to a net cafe or over to a friends place to pull it all down if you can.

You CAN request those resets - they just take some time, and if you do more than three resets in I think a 3 month period (which is 9 tries) you can't do the automated reset process and start having to go through a customer service agent to do resets, which can take a day or two each time instead of an hour. Which is a right pain, especially if you're in another timezone. So heads up - you want some highspeed, because this is a lot of stuff :)

Needless to say, their server is under great strain right now - I've been downloading the Bryce Content for over an hour now, and have one-and-a-quarter hours to go on the two-hour download. And that's with a pipe with a 150kB/s capacity. (At least I got Hexagon and the smaller files before things slowed to a crawl.)

You can order the programs now and download them any time in the next five days without needing to reset the download. I'd suggest ordering them now, getting up at 6:00am Eastern for the next three days, and pulling back one program per day...

Edit: Oh, and the first time you do an automated reset of the download, you get eight tries, not three. (I discovered that last week when I found out Anime Star Fighter now has metadata for Daz Studio 4, and reset the download to get those files.)

Re-edit: For folks who don't read the DAZ3D forums (and why would you if you don't have the software?), there are a number of lists there that gather pointers to free content in various themes. I maintain the one for Genesis (the "person" figure that comes with Studio 4), amongst others. So you don't need to break the bank when filling your content directory...

Not quite... :)

When you bought it, you got 3 downloads. You used one, leaving 2 downloads. Your 5 days then expired.

The package was updated, so DAZ reset it for you. You got 3 more downloads, increasing your total count to 5, and another 5 days. This may not have been the metadata update, but for some other reason. You didn't notice or hear about the update, you didn't download anything, your 5 days expired again.

You manually reset, you got another 3 downloads added, increasing your count to 8, and another 5 days :)

The system baffles people because DAZ doesn't go into the horrible grinding details, but I'm a total nerd so I teased it out of them.

Get them anyway, you can download them whenever you want.

I grabbed copies for myself (not downloaded as my computer died last week), and for my wife and got those downloaded without any trouble last night.

Funnily enough, I had a DAZ account, and I had an expired card registered on it (registered it while it was still valid, of course), and it still counted as having enough payment options available for getting this bundle.

This, I was going to ask about. I have not given any payment methods to DAZ - no credit cards at least. I pay using PayPal and each and every time it would redirect me and I would selectively use my Turkish PayPal account or my English PayPal account. Nothing stored in their systems.

Are you guys sure it is necessary to give credit card details? It is quite possible that selecting paypal as payment method and using a paypal account with no credit card associated with it could work.

Cheers...

I didn't need to give credit card details for either my wife or I.
