(IC) Lost In Dreams [Peter]

"Then why did you run?"

Peter holds out his cuffed hand... "Duh! Because when people want to lock you up for no reason, and tell you your rights 'don't apply here', it's smart to try and escape."

"How do your rights not apply?"

[the_matrix_walker]

"I don't know... that's what the guy said! I'm a conspirator and a threat and my rights don't really apply here. Of course I ran!"

[ericthered]

"No reason? Really, are you sure there is no reason?"

Peter's instincts tell him a LOT is riding on the answer to his question. This entire thing has pretty much started because of Luisa's suspicions. He's getting more and more the feeling they're unsure what's going on, and are trying to figure out what everything is.

He's not sure where the group's loyalties are though: to homeline? to humanity in general?

"I can't think of one... I'm just a lost kid trying to find his way home, and maybe do some good while I try to figure out how to get there. I was hoping you could help me when you said you knew what I was. Was that just part of the trap?"

The woman pauses at his question. She's frustrated, but Peter can't tell if she's mad at him or at herself. Or if she even knows. She opens her mouth two or three times then shuts it. Finally, she speaks, an angry streak in her voice.

"Fine, we're trying to figure out what you actually are. Luisa tried, and you fed her crap. We figured you might be more forth coming if we removed you from Kumar. You have something to hide, or you wouldn't have ran, and you certainly wouldn't be this evasive. Either that or you were raised by lawyers. We gave you a chance. You blew it. We'll be turning you and Kumar over to the ICOPs shortly. We'd have prefferred to have kept them out of it, but you give us no choice, bringing your criminal activities into miracle workers."

She says something to someone outside of the tent, then returns to sit and just watch him.

What do you mean you gave me a chance? I may have told Luisa a story at first, but I told her the truth before she abandoned us in the jungle...

What criminal activities??? What am I even being accused of?!?!"

"We're sure you're up to something, we just don't know what. So your going to stick to the story where you're a parachronazoid? How did you hook up with Kumar then? Why haven't you just left? How can we trust you? What can we do to make you trust us?*"

"I don't have any control over my ability... I met Kumar on the last world I woke up on. He thought he could help my find my home, so I went with him. when that didn't work out, I decided to stay with him to help the Miracle Workers. If I could just go home, I would. I've been doing good work for the Miracle Workers since I got here, even after Lucia shot at us and abandoned us in the jungle...What else can I possibly do?"

Shot at, abandoned and forced to cross the jungle on foot, then arrested for being "up to something"... in reality, there is nothing these paranoid weirdos can do to get him to trust them at this point... but Peter decides to simply say...
"If you want me to trust you... bringing me Goliath would be a good start."
