Congrats Doug!
Thank you, and it DEFINITELY crosses over to "I need animals, beasts, and with a little reskinning, alien horrors."

I can confirm - as I let the cat out of the bag a little - that another short volume expansion is in the works with another author, and I also have some plans for more in the future. The Bestiary was a good project for me, and now that a lot of the pathways are set to make layout and editing smoother, future installments should be less work.

I'd also note - in a totally self-interested way - that Bestiary entries are a fantastic way to get into the author game, as they are self-contained, scalable, and while they do require some rules and plot mastery, issues tend to come out in playtesting rather than staying hidden.

So...more to come, more to come.

Nordlond Bestiary USA Fulfillment Starts Tomorrow

I hesitated to give updates up until this one, because things were so very chaotic.

But the pallet of books has finally arrived at the fulfillment center. My contractor-partner there confirms that the pallet and boxes look to be un-spoiled (you have to say that like Saruman, you see) and that the books have been unloaded and brought into the warehouse.

Fulfillment starts tomorrow.

It’s about freakin’ time.

Huzzah!

A lot of students were browsing your promo copy at DFRPG camp today. I heard multiple comments about how good it looks.

SOON. I won't be in my home to send out fresh copies until the third week in June (just in time for your second camp). But when I get them, I'm sure I'll have some sort of announcement. I expect to have maybe 150 hardcopies left over after fulfillment, total.

The remaining copies of the Nordlond Bestiary (135 to 143 depending on how full that last box is) are on my front porch.

That means fulfillment is complete and I'll have checked in the books into inventory as "ready for instant fulfillment" by the end of Saturday.

This should bring the Nordlond Bestiary campaign to a highly successful (if annoyingly delayed for the US folks) conclusion. Thanks to all for coming along with me on the journey, and who knows? Maybe there will be another one.

Congrats!
We know you faced unexpected trials, but reaching the goals is a prize by itself.

I enjoy the book a lot (I am using it in our ongoing adventure) and I would love to see further Nordlond books published. Thanks!

I got my copy today, forgot I had even ordered the hard copy :)
Both the book and the cards look terrific.
Depending on budget I may not get any more hard copies but will do it if I can afford it that month. Definitely getting any PDFs.

Hi Doug,

So yesterday, I checked my front door to see if there were any packages. My 11 year-old son just happened to be following me at the time. I found a package and immediately guessed what it was. My son could tell I was excited and asked me what was in the package. I told him that a full sized bestiary had finally come out for GURPS 4th edition. I opened the box, briefly browsed the contents, and then went to go get ready to go out to dinner. About 10 minutes later I came back and my son was leafing through the bestiary. He started playing a little game where he would ask me if I would rather fight x or y. The book had clearly sparked his imagination.

For context, I have quite a few GURPS books on the self in our library. And I have been running a monster hunter campaign off and on for my family for about two years now. So my son has had a fair amount of exposure to GURPS. I have seen him flip through the core books during game sessions to look up rules, but I had never before seen him browse through a GURPS book just for the pure joy of it. There have been a lot of discussions on the boards lately of how to get more people into GURPS. In my mind, the answer is to make more books that can spark an 11 year-old's imagination like the Nordland Bestiary has. I look forward to more books.

I got my book a couple days ago. (I'd forgotten I'd ordered the hardcover; must have had room in the budget at the time.)

It's a really nice book! Lovely to hold and page through.

I already knew the content was great from the PDF. All around, a bestiary made just the way I'd want one.
