Yeah, I'm told Mengele was pretty surprised when the twins bought it, too. ;)

Or just "institutions", in general. Bureaucracy somehow brings out the worst in people.

It has happened once or twice that people have gotten drunk (yeah, I know. Unheard of in Iceland) and done something they'd not do while sober. Like passing out somewhere in the snow and barely being rescued from there. Or the guy who decided to walk home after a party, this happened in the NE of Iceland where there's a reasonable distance between places. He got lost, the search and rescue guys went to look and didn't find him for weeks. But found him later frozen dead, but sober.

Well, for people who live out in the wilderness. Personally I hadn't seen snow for quite a while before this year. ;)

Reasonable distance meaning miles and miles of miles and miles.

With a proper lifestyle as lived by Our Holy Savior, Lord KROMM, they would still live today. Basically there's one main rule: Don't be stupid.

This doesn't sound any different from Canada.

Icelandic snow stops at the city borders? Fascinating!
Do you have giant heating units there? ;)

Nah, I just glare at it until it gives up in embarrassment. ;)

The fact that our city is at sea level and the places that get the most snow are higher might also have something to do with it, of course.
