(IC) Lost In Dreams [Peter]

Peter is circling the village stealthily with Goliath searching for the scent when the rain comes. And it comes -- drenching the earth with life-giving and scent obliterating moisture. Goliath tries his best, and they pick up the trail of the modern folks -- up until the point where Goliath looses the scent just 100 yards after he found it.

They travel a while despite the rain to get a little distance from the "hostiles" Village, following the most likely path of the "English" based on the trail up until then.

Peters effort to follow the "english" has a stroke of luck -- he hasn't gone far when he recognizes a tire track. Looking around, he can kind of tell where the vehicle that made it went -- this makes tracking easier for him -- but he'd not sure if goliath would be any good at tracking a car. Or an ATV. But if its an ATV, wouldn't goliath still be able to follow the tracks.

They get to work. Peter hopes they are close -- he won't be able to move faster than an ATV. After he tracks for about 10 minutes, goliath figures out what he's doing. The dog moves slower than before, but its still a great help to have him. there is visual confirmation every so often, which is comforting.

As they continue on for another few minutes, Peter knows he's going to take a beating if he continues tracking in the storm. The wind is chilling him and he's drenched -- but its possible they could loose the trail. He stands a good chance of getting hypothermia or compromising his immune system if he keeps this up -- but he feels so close.

Peter ((Passed Overconfidence check)) looks for a good place to find or build some kind of simple shelter for protection until the storm abates, before attempting to recover the trail.

Peter finds a good stand of brush and fallen logs to shelter in -- its actually quite dry.

The storm continues until about noon. Goliath and Peter come out to try and follow the tracks. Its slower work -- The storm has wrecked havoc with the scent, and even many of the tracks are gone. After another hour of tracking, they loose the trail.

Peter is trying to find the trail again when his magic sense, dormant for so long, picks up something faint, but steady and growing. Its unfamiliar, but is about 20 degrees off the general direction he thinks the vehicle went.

Peter decides to check out the source of the mystical feeling... He can always try and pick up the trail later.

Peter follows the feeling for about 10 minutes -- at which point it 'flashes', releasing a lot of energy -- and then vanishes.

Peter will follow his current course for another 15 minutes, if he doesn't see or sense anything, he'll head back to tracking the "English".

His emotions swing on a pendulum between grim frustration and despair that keeps him on the edge of tears... He starts to wonder how much more of this he can take before he snaps.

Peter doesn't pick up anything else. whatever it was, it appears to be gone -- though his gut tells him that he'd need to walk for an hour or two in the right direction to get to the source of the whatever that was.

Goliath is following close to Peter, just a few inches from his side.

Peter pulls himself together and heads back to following the trail he believes the English speakers are traveling.
