Is there a Foundational Fantasy Bestiary Somewhere?
I am looking for a bestiary that covers basics like bandits, NPC wizards, soldiers, and knights.
But it is starting to feel like I have to do all the ground work myself while making these things. I am running a pretty fantasy heavy game with some cross over and would like to have some quick write ups for the players to encounter without having to do all the effort of creating common encounters from the ground up for everything. Anyone know what book and page I would find them in? |

The GCS (Gurps Character Sheet) program has a lot of them indexed. (At least for Dungeon Fantasy)
I don't know of an actual index myself, though. But I am interested, too. |

I don't know of any official "NPC adversary book", but A Few Bad Men is an unofficial collection thereof, which, though apparently designed with Dungeon Fantasy in mind, should serve for most low tech/fantasy campaigns.

The Nordlondr Ovinabokin is intended for use with the Nordlond setting of the DFRPG, but should work just fine with GURPS DF, or indeed fantasy in general. It’s more about monsters than hostile NPC’s, but has a decent selection of the latter in addition to the former. Don’t let the weird name throw you off, it’s all in American English (well, except for some of the monster names).

Re: Is there a Foundational Fantasy Bestiary Somewhere?
If you don't mind doing a bit of work and aren't concerned about character point totals, a less optimal solution could be getting the third edition NPC books Rogues, Warriors, Wizards, Villains, and/or Supporting Cast and using the free GURPS Update to convert to fourth edition stats. Might be a bit powerful for using as average mooks, though.
I just picked up the Rogues, Warriors, and Villains books from Amazon POD and at least one of them includes GURPS Update at the back of the book. Last edited by sparcipx; 05-14-2022 at 04:02 PM. |
