I prefer hardcovers as they just last longer. I should replace my copy of Powers, but the soft cover books I have gotten have worn out quite quickly. They are referenced continuously at the table. So yeah I vote for Hardcovers.

If given a choice between hard- and softcover when buying a book, I will almost always opt for hardcover for any title that I plan to keep on my bookshelf or to donate to a library.

Hardcovers will be more expensive but are worth it in the long run. Also....for those of us outside of the US, international shipping is a killer. PoD hardcovers are a good way to make hardcovers available at a cheaper price than shipping them from the US.

One thing I would dearly love is to have a "kit" option for binding your own hardcover. A custom made hardcover is just the sort of thing that would make an awesome gift for your favorite GM.

I'm not sure how many people would be interested in this, but it has the advantage of being relatively cheap and easy to implement because you can use the same printer you're already using for softcover. You'd just need to include some precut pasteboard, facing paper, and maybe a few different cover options.

I'd dearly love to have hardcovers with sewn leaves (as opposed to glued), since they hold up a lot better to heavy use, but that would almost certainly raise the price and require a different supply chain than what you already have in place for the softcovers.

Yup, PoD is the way to get back to your international customers for physical products. Honestly, I'd just love more titles, regardless of Softcover, Hardcover, or PDF - anything out of print (I get there are sometimes licencing issues, but can I tell you I dropped about AUD150- to get a softcover copy of Time Travel Adventures, delivered from the US to AU, brand new, because I couldn't find a PoD or PDF option).

So anything that can bring the OoP catalogue back to life is a good thing.

I'd very much like hardcovers. Currently I have only the 4e Basic Set books in hardcover, and a bunch of PoD softovers accumulated over the last two years or so, and I just prefer holding and reading the hardcovers.

I have all of the PoDs in softcover but would purchase any PoDs in hardcover that you produced (except for those that I already have). So my interest is high.

I love the IDEA of doing this, but I have to be totally honest with you -- I'm much more likely to buy a soft-cover version than a hard-cover version simply due to price. For the price of a typical hard-cover I can usually buy two or possibly even three soft-covers. And my gaming budget has to be stretched to cover so much!

Mind you, for really big books, 300 pages or more, I always buy hard-cover because a soft-cover can't handle the mass, but those are pretty rare in the inventory.

I wouldn't buy a hardcover for most 64 pagers, but for rules dense products that require a lot of referencing I would get it as hardcover. I'd get it for licensed product worldbooks too, there's no logic behind that, just how my brain works.

I'd seriously consider a 128 page hardcover of any product type, and I'd jump on it immediately for 192+ pages in preference to softcover, no questions asked.

For items under 64 pages, and for 64 page products that aren't rules dense, I'd want to bind them together in omnibus editions for hardcover. Which probably is even less practical.
