Yeah, it's not adding up. This must be like when I woke up on Riask. Maybe I died in the storm sewer too?

They don't. Someone suggests they might need to buy him some.
I suggest, "Maybe a towel?"

Woman: "Aquariums? where?"

That's a nutty rabbit hole... but I can totally see it!

"Panogos. The Planet. We're in the Panogos System. Riask..." she holds up her phone. "'Where is Riask?'"

The phone answers: "Riask is the name of several communities and companies found off-world. None of them is especially prominent or close. could you provide more context?"

"Maybe a towel?"
"Oh hey, I think I have a hand towel!" one of the men yells. Julian gets a piece of exquistly soft and absorbent cloth just about the size of a loin cloth.

Did that door just vanish on Julian?

Probably would started going down that hole sooner if he was into Anime

Well let's not mention the geography (waterfall, sun below clouds, etc.).

"They mine Vasic there, it's always overcast, there's no difference between day and night, there's all sorts of different kinds of people (Muggragle, Duwende, Hawkin, etc.), and they speak this language:" I punctuate my description with a bit of Riask.

I'll try to cover up with it.

The door is still there. It has no handles on this side and is painted to blend in with the wall.

"Aquariums with... oh! Those aren't aquariums. That's Starpus housing. How did you get in there? Never knew they kept them there." She looks at the door for a bit before looking back at Julian.

"So its a mining colony either in dark space or on a tidally locked planet. Try speaking the language into my assistant. 'What language is this'?"

The phone Chirps:
"Language unknown."
"No Riask is known as dark space mining colony or tidally locked planet."

I take it's a push-pull door? Otherwise:
I wonder aloud, "How do you open a door without a knob?"

I start getting a sinking feeling. Riask seemed to think it was some kind of important place being the only source of Vasic and all. And not only does this lady not know about it, neither does Google (?). I check my diary if the entries from the past few days are still there.

On top of that, these people are speaking English, and are rather matter of factly talking about space travel all over the place... I thought I travelled to a different planet thing with Riask, but am I also travelling in time too?

"What year is it? How far is Panogos from Earth?"

"Oh, the Concordance. The folks who run the warp ships. Our people"

"They probably don't want people going in that way. Its probably an emergency exit. Or they have an electronic way to open it. See, its painted so that it doesn't look like a door."

(he's making me give a sense of scale! science fiction writers have no sense of scale! Wraaaah!)

"its 3417. Earth is 74 light years away. Kuru is 108 lightyears away.

I guess the question line was a little ambiguous there. Here's the next question if the answer order implied the Concordance are the ones who run the warp ships

"So what does a starpus do?"

Here's the next question if the answer order implied the starpuses are the ones who run the warp ships

"How do they do that from a tank of water? And why are they needed anyway?"

I close my diary. No need to have anyone read it.

Honestly the knowledge that they know where Earth is (and thus its significance) is probably more important than the exact location.

The enormity of it dawns on me. I mumble, "Fourteen hundred years?"

6 + 4 + 5 = 15 ... success
I wobble and stay steady. "I guess I bumbled somewhere really far away and managed to bumble most of the way back."

"Why's Kuru so important?"

"Yes, Warp Ships move faster than light. The starpus does this with it's mental energy. I'd think they can hook up to the amplifiers in the tank: they're primarily aquatic. And they're needed because they're the only ones who can move things with their mind. How did you get here from Riask if you don't know that?"

Quote:
"Why's Kuru so important?"
"It's where the Starpus come from and where the Concordance is based. Its where all the Traders are based and where they build warpships."

I give her an odd look and say, "I don't know how I even got to Riask to begin with, much less how I got here. It always happened when I was asleep..."

The woman assures Julian they will take good care of him.

The group goes back and forth... something about their "Game", about "Guardians" and about "A Registry"... maybe he's on the registry?
