Swiss Army Polearm
Greetings fellow munchkins,
Well aware that I registered here as a new user, fully understanding the extend of noobishness I have as an aura, I do have a slight braincracker here. The argument was really heated up, as it was a win or lose situation (boss fight of one of the players involved). The dilemma came up as there was another mob attached to the boss by the Wandering Monster card. Both happen to be 'Huge'. As the text on the card of the Swiss Army Polearm dictated, two additional dices may be rolled against huge monsters. The text clearly states plural. The player in question insisted that the meaning of the phrase was 2 additional dice for each huge monster (facing 2 of them). I already think you know what I am about to ask, is this correct. My counter argument for the question was text on cards and roomtiles. Banish rings for example CLEARLY states an additional die for EACH <color> monster. While as the Polearm states 2 additional dice for huge monsters (still as plural). So was he allowed to roll with 4 additional dice, or are the 2 additional dice the maximum bonus for wielding the weapon in combat (2 handed ofcourse). |

Re: Swiss Army Polearm
Your interpretation is correct (a similar question has been asked and answered about the Cleric ability vs. Undead). It's two additional dice for any combat against Huge monsters, not two additional dice for every Huge monster.

Re: Swiss Army Polearm
Thank you very very much. Although it's too late to turn things around (2 votes against mine was enough to let the game continue and cause that player to win), it's still very nice to have won the argument.

Re: Swiss Army Polearm
Just because you were correct does not mean that you won the argument. ;-)

Re: Swiss Army Polearm
I dream of a world where I can put together Andrew, Erik, Rev Bob, Jan and we can have some beers and talk. Would be fun =P

Re: Swiss Army Polearm
If the discussion was still persisting after the games end (giving myself in for the sake of the game, but not the discussion), it means in my understanding that I now have won by sound argument.

I think I speak for all of us when I say you can have that world. It's just a matter of picking a date and location, then paying our transportation costs.... :)

I would pay if at least two of the mentioned people weren't on different continents (myself included).
But think of all the fun! =P

Re: Swiss Army Polearm
Seriously. Get me and my wife there, get us a hotel and some spending money for a moderately nice private dinner after the confab, and I think you'll have a deal on my end. . . :-)
