Assigning base color to a new monster
In page 6 of the rules, under exploring, paragraph 5, we are instructed to role the Monster Die to determine the monster's base color. The rules don't state any handling for the case in which the color rolled doesn't match one of the colors someone is playing. It strikes me one could either 1) Keep rolling until a played color appears or 2) Let the current player choose a color as though all bases of the rolled color are in play. I wondered whether playtesters or early players had settled on a preferred approach or whether you invented something even sneakier - use some other random chooser appropriate to the number of players maybe?
Thanks. |

Re: Assigning base color to a new monster
From rulebook, page 6 number 5:
If no bases of the rolled color are available, you get to choose the base – but the player of the chosen color does not get a DxM! Since no bases are available the colors no one is playing, the person rolling chooses the color. |

Re: Assigning base color to a new monster
Too true, too true. I was reading "available" too narrowly to mean only if they were all filled up. Equally unavailable if they are in the box out of use or in an expansion that has yet to be released.
Thanks. |
