Combat with TK

A few of my players have decided to make character with psionic abilities for the current section of the campaign. Each of them has a different focus of expertise. The one 'jack of most trades' player has telekinesis with a range of 20yds and an area effect enhancement so multiple knives can be used at once. My questions are:

1) If he were using knives / daggers for melee attacks, while the weapons are at 10, 12, 15yds, etc. away from him, would he incur a distance penalty because he himself is not at melee range?

2) Would a ranged attack (with one of those being thrown) be modified from his distance to the target or the weapons? [The target could actually be closer than his weapons!]

This is mentioned in the TK section under Throwing.

Thx! I've read and reread so many different parts of the various books I'd forgotten that answer was in front of me the whole time.

+ a perception test to concentrate on x knives.

unless with reduced concentration it will take time

note the area effect could lift any object of x ST instead of knives.
