Default My Recap: Unbalanced Weapons - Ready Weapons - Turn Sequences

Hello!

I'm sorry to exhume old questions but i did not find a clear thread talking about all these arguments at the same time.

After spending a lot of hours reading various topics about GURPS my mind is bending and i would like to ask you if all my following assumptions are all correct or not, thanks.

Unbalanced weapon
Parry 0U means that a weapon can not attack+parry in the same turn and this it’s not related to the player’s ST

There is a very important exception to this: Defensive Attack : -2 damage but you can also parry with a 0U weapon!

Ready weapon

A weapon with ST+ (one-dagger) it’s a two-handed weapon that will be ready after use and :
If you have 1.5*ST -> You can use it with one hand & weapon unready
If you have 2*ST -> You can use it with one hand & weapon ready

A weapon with ST++ (double-dagger) it’s a two-handend weapon that will be unready after use and :
If you have 1.5*ST -> You can use it with two hand & weapon ready
If you have 2*ST -> You can use it with one hand & weapon unready (this option is not described in the rules but it seems to fit well to me)
If you have 3*ST -> You can use it with one hand & weapon ready

Now, let’s go with a couple of examples

Example One:

Albert : Basic Speed 6 - Sword
Ben: Basic Speed 5 - Great Axe (min ST 12++ Parry 0U) - ST14

Turn 1 - Albert
Albert attacks and hits -> Ben parries (he was Doing Nothing)

Turn 1 - Ben
Ben starts his turn now, so what he did just one moment ago it does not influence his options!
Ben attacks and hits -> Albert parries
Ben’s great axe is unready and unbalanced now

Turn 2 - Albert
Albert attacks and hits -> Ben can not parry (he can dodge etc etc)

Turn 2 - Ben
Ben readies his great axe

Turn 3 - Albert
Albert attacks and hits -> Ben parries

Turn 3 - Ben
Ben attacks with Defensive Attack and hits -> Albert parries
Ben’s great axe is unready so Defensive Attack does not allow Ben to parry with it during this turn!

Turn 4 - Albert
Albert attacks and hits -> Ben can not parry (weapon is unready!)

Turn 4 - Ben
Ben readies his great axe

Turn 5 - Albert
Albert attacks and hits -> Ben parries

Turn 5 - Ben
He can, for example, All-Out-Attack (Feint) because feint does not unready the weapon
He can not, for example, All-Out-Attack (Double) because the first attack makes his great axe unready

Example Two
Albert : Basic Speed 6 - Sword
Ben: Basic Speed 5 - Great Axe (min ST 12++ Parry 0U) - ST36

Ben now can use his great axe one-handed and it’s always ready!

Turn 1 - Albert
Albert attacks and hits -> Ben parries (he was Doing Nothing)

Turn 1 - Ben
Ben starts his turn now, so what he did just one moment ago it does not influence his options!
Ben attacks and hits -> Albert parries
Ben’s great axe is ready but unbalanced now

Turn 2 - Albert
Albert attacks and hits -> Ben can not parry (he can dodge etc etc)

Turn 2 - Ben
Ben attacks with Defensive Attack and hits -> Albert parries
Ben’s great axe is ready and balanced so Defensive Attack is great here!

Turn 3 - Albert
Albert attacks and hits -> Ben parries!

Turn 3 - Ben
He can, for example, either All-Out-Attack (Feint) or All-Out-Attack (Double)

Please, tell me if i missed something, thanks!

I Dug pretty deep as well, and found that I was running things wrong. Your interpretation is correct.

The most clear discussion I found was in the Unbalanced Parries section on MA125.
