This is potentially not-at-all helpful, but just in case. I found that I like the penalties as is once I started tracking individual wounds. Someone who takes 5 two-point wounds is easier to patch up (5 unmodified minor healing rolls) than someone who takes 1 10=point wound (needs two healing spells, second at -3; if only minor healing is available, then this wound is *very* hard to heal. As it should be -- it's not a minor wound).
If that's of no help, my bad. Just a thought.

I remember getting shock penalties in the teens back in 3e. It generally meant "well, I'm not actually stunned, but I think I'll all-out-defend anyway".
