No no no. The full moon allowed them to put werewolves on the lifting team.

WiFi standards for 2024 include turning all WiFi devices into The Dark Knight-style scanning systems. Nothing could possibly go wrong...

Re: Real-Life Weirdness
Rube Waddell, the link going to just a few highlights from this man's career as a PC.
Born Friday 13 of October 1876, died April Fool's Day 1914. Don't let the age fool you. He was a Hall of Fame pitcher. Would, in exhibition games, stunt by telling the rest of the team to leave the field, then strike out the rest of the batters for the inning. At least when he wasn't distracted by (incomplete list) shiny objects held by fans, puppies brought for the purpose of distracting him, or fire trucks, which he would run off the field to chase. Got in a fight with a lion. Didn't win, but didn't die from it. Told the police who showed up that he was fighting off highwaymen. Chiseled good looks. Starred in a vaudeville play. Couldn't remember his lines so his co-stars just let him ad-lib everything. One night he threw the villain bodily across the stage. The play was a hit. Met, married and divorced a woman in under a year. Said to have saved the town of Hickman, Kentucky from a flood. I have no further details. This is but a selection of the list from that link. Rube Waddell, 37 years of absolute living. |

(Another note: One season, he had to share a room during away games with another player. Said other player refused to ever share a room with Rube again unless his contract stipulated he was no longer allowed to eat crackers in bed.) (Oh, and he once tried to hypnotize a walrus. It didn't work. The walrus didn't kill him, but it did manage to tear his pants off.)

Re: Real-Life Weirdness
So Egypt threw a big party for the dead rulers.
In short: 22 mummies were carted through Cairo in customized trucks, each labeled with the name of the "passenger". Along the route - especially restored to ensure a smooth ride -, thousands of spectators admired them, and actors in costumes were also part of the show. Officially, all to boost tourism. Yeah, right. So, what is really behind it? Bringing back the old rulers to restore the former glory? Had the arrangement of the trucks a special meaning? Followed the route of the trucks a special path? Why were the trucks labeled in English, not in Arabic? And is it a coincidence that this parade happened just after the last ship that was delayed by the accident in the Suez Canal passed the canal? Questions and questions. Has anybody answers?

Re: Real-Life Weirdness
Something I missed last year, microscopic bioroids, called xenobots, have been created. Or maybe they should count as proto-bioroids, given they are created from living cells (frog stem cells) rather than from more basic building blocks.
